I think the Titans are positioned to have a very good 2012 season.  They are very talented, deep, and balanced offensively.  Certainly a lot of questions to answer on defense, but it seems like they have a number of guys to plug in who are ready to go.  I'm looking forward to kickoff!

Any comments on the 6'1, 295lb. 12 year old who is too big for the youth league he wants to play for. The league has a weight limit rule and the kid's family wants them to let their kid play any. BTW, the limit is 130 lbs. The league allows some bigger kids to play on the line, however, the league says he is too big even to play on the line.

Dlip feels for the kid, hopefully he can find somewhere to play. Dlip doesn't think they should let him play in a league with a weight limit of 130 pounds though. Other kids will get homogenized. Hopefully something will work out for the big guy.

I said yesterday I didn't know who IWU's new FG/XP kicker would be.  It is freshman Michael Kelley from Carbondale...

We're in an era where we can find YouTube highlight videos on D3-bound kickers!  (Is it just me or are the goal posts in those first few game highlights really, really short??)

Some friends and I were on the way to a fantasy football draft Saturday and this story came on the radio. That was the first I had heard that the kid still has an option to play with kids his own age at his Jr High, just not in his PeeWee league.

Once I heard that it all became a non-story to me. He can still play with kids his own age, if that was not the case then there would be some debate to be had.

My biggest problem with all of this is the PeeWee coach who told the kid he should play for his team, had him practicing and everything. He knew damn well they weren't going to let the kid play. Why even ask him to play?
You win! You always do!

When I played, I was part of a 68 player freshmen recruiting class. By the time we reached Senior Day, there were 15 of us. For many years, this was pretty much the norm. You'd have an occasional year with 10 or 20, but those were exceptions. Last year, NCC had a very large senior class. I attribute that to two reasons. NCC is doing more targeted recruiting - better players at positions of need. And, they are playing more players. Lots of substitutions on offense, lots of rotations on defense. Playing time keeps kids around. Third and even fourth team players know they are not far from getting quality playing time.
