While the move, as reported in the Chicago Tribune, is nowhere near finalized and requires further discussion and approval the NCC Board, as part of a larger strategic planning process, is strongly considering a potential name change from North Central College to Naperville University!

They should change it back to Plainfield College.

Calling something in Naperville Plainfield anything would never fly. The Putin' on the Ritzers with their noses in the air who comprise Naperville's upper echelon would view anything Plainfieldeze as an insult to the Empire. 🤬

New Tradition- Thank you for the post.  My thoughts and prayers are with the Thorne family.

Elmhurst's name change had little to nothing to do athletics and was more academically minded.  Elmhurst change was hopes to recruit a more international focus for their academic programs.   
I wonder how much changing NCC's name would be driven because of academics or athletics?

Slightly off subject but regarding name changes-   Before Elmhurst adopted Bluejays as their mascot,  (at one time)  Elmhurst used  Goldenrod  as their nickname.   I recall using this as a trivia question on the air once.   Could you imagine,  "Touchdown Goldenrods".       Thankfully Bluejays was the name that stuck.

Beats the hell out of Garnet Chargers in my very humble opinion.  Then again Cardinals isn't exactly original.  Certainly not badass.  Golden Tornados, Red Dragons, Green Knights, Vikings.... small birds.

Not even in the center of Naperville, or DuPage County for that matter.
