The NFL game starts at 7:20. Why not watch both?
Remember with NPI you probably want as many CCIW wins as possible.

Don't know if this is official or not, but we'll see in a week and a half.

Here is a story from the Naperville Sun on the QB battle...as of yesterday a starter had not been named yet.

The article mentions Lavery in the mix but it will really be between Wilson and Ashiru, and I would not be shocked to see them both play against Oshkosh next week

I saw yesterday that an NCC source has Wilson starting.

We'll see next week.

To clarify, someone is reporting that a NCC source says Wilson is starting.

Not sure who their "source" is but they do have a 50% chance of being correct as it will be Wilson or Ashiru.

I talked to someone on the coaching staff yesterday who said a decision has not been made yet. I'll stick with my thought that both see the field next week regardless of who starts.

Dear Brad Spencer,

Please line up in the wildcat formation for the first offensive series.

Or just to screw with everyone: line up with both Ashiru and Wilson on the first play.

UWEC 29  Carroll 7 Final

Game Stats

Not much to add here. Carroll switched QB's in second half and brought in a sophomore #11 Elisha Nieves who led their only scoring drive. He looked good until he got hurt in the 4rth Q.
Their best chance before that was the end of first half they got down to the UWEC 4 yd line with no timeouts and clock ran out on them.

So the team voted 7th in the WIAC pre-season coaches poll won by 22 over the team voted 5th in the CCIW coaches poll. Don't know what, if anything, that says about the relative strength of the two conferences.

We'll find out how accurate those preseason polls are. Let's see how rest of CCIW does this weekend.
Carroll has to get their QB situation figured out. They started 2 QB's last year and pulled the starter in the first game this year. Defensively they got to get off the field. UWEC went 4 for 4 on 4rth down possessions to extend drives and had 36:59 time of possession. UWEC hit one big play right after Carroll threw a pick, next play UWEC hit a 67 yd TD pass.
One bright spot for Carroll was freshman #10 Daniel White from Brother Rice. He caught their only touchdown and had 116 return yards.

Carroll starts conference play with WashU and Wheaton. They are looking at a tough start to the season.

And so it begins...

Gregory Sager

It appears that North Park senior Justen Green has won the preseason battle for the Vikings' starting QB spot. I think that a more initially solid NPU O-line will give him sufficient protection and thus help ease him into his new role. The guy who worries me from Ripon is their big (6'5, 220) QB Jack Berens, back for his third season as the starting signal-caller for the Red Hawks. He ran for four TDs against the Vikings last year and was a major headache to bring down.

I also trust -- not in vain, I hope -- that the Vikings won't shoot themselves in the foot in spectacular fashion via unnecessary yellow laundry the way that they did last season against Ripon. NPU was penalized an absurd 14 times last season for 138 yards against the Red Hawks, which, alongside the Vikings' difficulty in bringing Berens to the turf, made what should've been a relatively easy win a nail-biter that went down to the wire; a missed two-point-conversion pass by Berens with 14 seconds remaining allowed the Vikings to escape with a one-point victory.

Could the dream possibly have life? It seems the latest among the many rumors floating around the NCC sports complex has the Cardinals beginning in a Pro Set/Split Backs formation with Lavery at QB and Wilson and Ashiru as backs split to either side of him.  ;)

The kids made a habit of it last season that's for sure.  For your sake and for all the NP fans out there, I hope they go a little easier on you in '25.  But boy was it fun to watch.
