If that's the case, I hope my kid doesn't go to IWU.  I... I don't know what I would do.  The idea of it is just...

That's a common feeling around the league. I've heard it expressed by representatives of a number of different CCIW schools and their fan bases, across several sports over the years. IWU just seems to be the love-'em-or-hate-'em outfit of this league.

I honestly don't think that for the most part it's because of Titans student-athletes, nor is it the coaches (especially now that Norm Eash has retired; IWU coaches such as Mia Smith, Ron Rose, and Kim Nelson-Brown actually seem to be pretty well-respected by everyone around the league) that evoke such acrimony. And it's not envy, because Augustana used to be the CCIW school that won the most across all sports and now it's North Central. I think it's a fan-base thing. That's my impression, at least.

Honestly I'm just being a smartass.  IWU has a great academic reputation and a lot of great people through and through.  Ripping on the Titans is kind of the thing to do if they kicked the crap out of you for four years.

IWU is like the broccoli of the CCIW salad.  It's green, not everybody likes it, but it's good for you and you can use the fiber.

It's probably a default thing more than anything else. There's definitely some YMMV at work here as well; everybody probably has his or her own CCIW rival that rubs her or him the wrong way more than anybody else. I've just noticed that for an unusual number and variety of people it's IWU, that's all.

Not a good performance at all by NPU on the road today. Some bad mistakes on defense and special teams in the first half, and the Pioneers adroitly jumped on them for touchdowns. NPU never really got it going on offense, although the defense more or less shut down CU in the second half.

A confusing day at QB for the Vikings. Caillix Dillon, ineffective in the first quarter, disappeared from the game; not sure if he was hurt or hooked. Freshman Paul Palmer took over for him and was equally ineffective, leading at last to the original starter this season, Justen Green, who threw a TD pass in the final two minutes for North Park's lone touchdown.

IWU has some good pieces. They just doesn't have enough players. They didn't play a running back vs Wheaton today.

WashU tested last 2 weeks vs
IWU and Carthage.

Carroll started their Sr. QB Charlie King who provided a spark today. Their D had one of their better performances this year. Their FG kicker hit a 50 yd FG. Both teams had some special team mistakes.

But WashU won 31-23 in OT.

The WashU game went to a second OT as both teams got a FG on first OT.
Carthage led at half 13-7. 3rd Q was scoreless. WashU then got 2 TD's in 4rth and Carthage tied at the end of regulation.

Checking out some of the stats from the games, one that stuck out was NCC's WR Skokna 8 receptions 206 yds, 5 TD's.

Aidan Ellison drilled a 50 yard FG. The Arkansas State transfer also has a 49 yarder so far this season.

UWS beat UWO so now another WIAC team joined the top 25. 6 out of 8 teams in the conference in the top 25.

How might the UWO loss impact NC's playoff seeding?  We lucked out not having to travel last year, but a lot of that was thanks to Springfield and Susquehanna knocking out the top seeds.

Now we are getting to everybody's favorite subject, NPI.
Ziggy, one the Datacast guys mentions on the WIAC board he thinks the NCAA will start publishing the numbers next week. In the meantime I think the guys are tracking their own unofficial numbers for now.

When the NCAA publishes them we'll be able to see the individual game NPI's used in the calculation. A UWO loss would imply the game NPI would move down but anybody they lose to is in the top 25 so not sure how much of a difference. This is one of the reasons I point out it's better for NCC and Wheaton to have some more above .500 teams in the CCIW.
One thing to remember about NPI is the game NPI's used in the calculation could change every week and games being used in the calculation could change.

If you really want to go down the rabbit hole if your worried about the UWO win and that games NPI, you not only have to keep an eye on UWO, now every loss UWS takes could make that UWO loss worse. Welcome to NPI.

Finally it's really hard to say now how one game will affect overall NPI ranking or playoff seed since it's a culmination of at least 5 wins used in the calculation. So one game NPI may go down and one may go up...etc.
I would add losses too but you were talking about NCC. For example, Wheaton's NPI will improve moving forward so that game NPI for NCC will improve.
