Canton-Akron has a direct flight from Atlanta -- not that it matters because these flights are almost all charter. It's hard to find 65 seats on a commercial flight on six days' notice.

Isthmus Bowl

We know WashU/Augie winner will represent CCIW.

In the WIAC these are the games this week.

UWL @ UWSP
UWW @ UWO
UWP @ UWEC
UWRF @ UWS

UWRF has clinched the AQ. If UWL, UWW and UWP win I'm assuming they get a at large bid.
That would leave UWO and UWS tied in conference. Not sure what their tie breaker is.  UWS beat UWO.

Rather embarrassing for the CCIW should WashU beat Augie and go to the Isthmus Bowl.
Congratulations WashU. Thanks for representing the CCIW so admirably. Your conference affiliation is hereby revoked. 🫠

If it's a two-way tie in football and not broken with head-to-head, then they are doing tiebreakers wrong. :)

The problem with breaking ties with head to head is that it makes too much sense. That's why they're probably not doing it that way.

Does the new D3 playoff process have a clear set up for who hosts games after round one.  Or is there still a bid process for hosting a playoff game?

USee

I think the default is the higher (better) seed hosts.

Pat Coleman

It's not really bidding, as much as it is, did you file paperwork to host and is your facility up to the minimum standard. From there, the higher seed is supposed to host.

Thanks, Pat. That makes sense. I could imagine the frantic call to a travel agent or airline if flying commercial was the only option.

So perhaps the airports don't matter as much? I thought that was the logic behind sending the Whitworth-Pomona winner to Naperville last year and sending Belhaven then Trinity to NCC in 2023.

I know some "island" team had to fly to Wheaton another year. Looks like it was Huntingdon in 2016.

It's likely NCC will sweep the POY awards when they are decided this week. Whomever Brad Spencer nominates for offensive POY will get it, likely Skokna. JP Sullivan is a virtual lock for DPOY and Spencer will get the COY award.

The interesting battles will be for first team and second team, though the coaches have settled in recent years for naming multiple players at each position to the first team. It used to be that just one player at each position was named 1st team and then multiple players got 2nd team and HM.

Carthage 7 Carroll 3 (Probably lowest point total in a CCIW game this season. Carroll got nothing going until 4rth Q. Their D though kept them in the game and they got into Carthage territory late but got stopped.)

Around D3:
Ithaca 26 Cortland 21
F&M 29 JHU 28 OT (F&M 2 pt conversion for the win)

Nightmare scenario for NCC fans like myself with Johns Hopkins losing. Likely means UWRF in the quarters and if they get by them then a trip to Alliance in the semis...

Looking at the play by play stats for JHU game looks like JHU missed a 30 yd FG at the end of regulation for the win. They got the ball first scored, xtra pt then F&M scored and got the 2 pt conversion.

Final CCIW standings

Compare to preseason poll. IWU and Augie flip positions from what was predicted in preseason poll. Carthage and Millikin ended up higher a spot and NPU lower then predicted.
