Forcucci, who threw for 5 TD's vs Millikin, broke the Wheaton career TD passing record on Saturday that had stood for 40 years. Keith Bishop (son of then head coach JR Bishop) led the "Air Bishop Express" back then, starting for 3 years and setting a lot of NCAA records at the time when Wheaton would routinely throw for 400-500 yds in a game.

Strangely...before I went to Wheaton in 1988-1992 I was a student at...Lawrence Central, IN.  Where we had (at the time) Bishop Stadium.  One guess why?  At the time I didn't even realize I was following such illustrious players and coaches...

Based on recent results, I would say UWRF should be #1. NCC's O-line issues are a legit concern against top tier opponents.

And yet, with those issues, NCC somehow still beat the #2 and #9 teams in the country 🤔.
Plus the fact that North Park is better than Southern Virginia 🤗.

I don't have any information on IWU QB Dermot Smyth other than seeing the play vs Augie where a defensive lineman landed on Smyth with his throwing shoulder smashing into the ground. Smyth played one more play and then I could see him trying to throw short passes on the sideline. He did not return and his coach described it afterwards as a "sprained shoulder". Smyth is obviously a huge piece of the IWU attack as both a passer and a runner (he is their leading rusher).

IWU and Wheaton have a common opponent in Albion (both games played at Sprankel-Sprandel Stadium). IWU won 24-10 in a game that was 10-10 going into the 4th quarter. IWU gained 325 yds and Albion put up 264.

Wheaton won 45-3 and gained 451 yds to Albion's 153.

J.B. on the in the D3FB huddle podcast says he doesn't see Wheaton as the #3 team. The Mount Union win looking less impressive now.
On the OAC board they are saying there are a couple other teams in that conference that could beat Mount Union. One more loss and they'll miss the playoffs for the first time since I think 1991...at least that's what google is telling me.

I think most people are ranking Wheaton based on more than just that win. They made the quarterfinals last year with a lot of key pieces still on the team... I also don't care for D3FB Huddle or Frank Rossi's opinions, though.

If Smyth is able to play it should be a close game quite likely highlighted by a battle between Smyth and Wheaton QB Forcucci.
If Smyth is truly severely injured to the point of not being able to play, Wheaton will win by a significant margin.

The Illinois Wesleyan SID is a woman, Mark, so you are speculating that she could be blowing smoke out of her rear end. Unless, that is, the second "his" in your sentence refers to Dermot Smyth, in which case you're giving the Illinois Wesleyan SID credit for being able to do some interesting things involving green smoke to other people that I suspect are beyond her skill set, or the skill set of any other D3 SID, for that matter.
