The party, which was attended by 150-200 people, took place on the block of Division St. in Bloomington which abuts the IWU baseball field. Reports indicted that the shooters were 2 African-American males, but it is not known what led to the shooting, and no one has yet been identified or arrested.

Eight young people, including 2 in high school, were wounded. They range in age from 16-19. Two of the victims were initially listed as being in critical condition, but have been upgraded to stable condition. However, most tragically, one 19 year old student was killed.

* The student killed was 19 year old Giana Dettloff from Carol Stream and Glenbard North High School. Giana is a freshman cheerleader at North Central College who was in town visiting a friend at IWU for the weekend.

Tragic news.
I had read students from IWU, Illinois State University, Quincy University and the local high school were at the party.

Sadly this is one local piece of news I hear about daily now.  This shooting was about 1 block from where my wife lived when we first met.  Students from many colleges and a local high school.  I'm never happy to hear the local police chief being quoted on WBBM in Chicago..

The North Park offensive line was named as a unit to the D3Football.com Team of the Week.

I did not see any of Wheaton-Augustana game.  Did Augie play really well?  Wheaton struggle on offense?

Combination of all?

USee

Wheaton played sluggishly and Augie played great. Makuh led them easily down the field for the two scores but then struggled in the second half. Augie also had zero run game with Ledlum out. Wheaton's defense made a few mental, coverage, mistakes that helped Augie on their two scoring drives but Augie made some great plays.

Wheaton's offense was inconsistent and made a few drive stopping mistakes and Augies defense did a great job limiting Wheaton's rushing attack. Augie played a lot of one on one on the perimeter and Wheaton took a bunch of shots, connecting on 2-3 ultimately.

So Washu is #6 in the NPI rankings and #8 in the D3.com poll. Did they just transform into a juggernaut since last year or did the perennial 3rd-4th best team in the CCIW (unranked during most of that time) benefit from trading CCIW opponents for NCAC opponents? I hope they get to play NCC or Wheaton in the playoffs so we can find out.

Patrick Coleman

Either of those or both, right? In the past, WashU played North Central (not generally competitive) and Wheaton (generally competitive) and then the rest of the CCIW and Rhodes or University of Chicago. There's a big gap between Wheaton and their third-best opponent from those years, and in that gap this year, DePauw and John Carroll fall right in.

I sped thru the replay.
I'll just add it was 13-13 going into 4rth Q. Wheaton finished a 14 play 70 yd drive to go up 20-13. Then at around 8 minutes, Augie RB got stood up and saftey #24 Colin Moore stripped the ball and LB #8 Zeke Harris recovered. Moore made d3football team of the week. Wheaton 4 plays later made it 26-13. Wheaton missed 2 xtra pts. and Augie missed 1 xtra pt.

Wheaton RB Matt Crider looked like he didnt play in the 2nd half. RB Kenny Jager had 84 yds rushing.

Thanks.  Augie really missed Makuh while he was out and they are a good team.

Credit to Wheaton for getting the job done on a day like that.  When a team is highly ranked outsiders expect every game to be a 50 point effort.  It's not that easy.

Both.  I am sure it is nice to not have to play NC and Wheaton this year.

This is also a team that WashU has been building up to. 3.5 year starter in Levi Moore at QB and a lot of returners on both sides of the ball.

They have solid wins again JCU and DePauw who have been consistently ranked in Top 25.  Both of those game were at home which helps a ton as teams travel to St. Louis for the first time.

Solid win again Wabash.

I am sure the teams below Wheaton and NC are glad to have WashU gone as far as the Isthmus bowl race is concerned as it usually went through WashU before.

Long term but does this move weaken the CCIW as is strengthens the NCAC.  WashU was a solid program and had a slightly different style of play than the norm.

Yeah I agree, It was more rhetorical but if there is little difference between WashU last year and this year but they were unranked last year, playing in a weaker conference makes them a top 10 team? Somebody's gotta tell that to Concordia, WI and Benedictine!
