I am proud that my former High school team is still called the Redskins, complete with a totem pole at the football field where we hang the colors of our conquered opponents.    It's still a ways away from the pc crowd but hope they don't go the way of the Naperville Central redhawks...

Pretty soon we'll just be colors for teams and go the way of Milikin.

Nice find!  Despite my natural antipathy for all things Millikin, I've always LIKED 'Big Blue', though only because others are NOT just colors! 

Though Stanford is the Cardinal (color, not bird or prelate, hence the singular).  Anyone know of any other examples?

Re: the possible change from Redmen to Red Men, and the comment about the women's teams - how DO the women's teams handle it?  Are they currently the Redwomen, or some oxymoron like 'Lady Redmen'?

St. Johns used to be the redmen when john berry played and chris of run TMC,  but that changed as well several years ago.
