Just listened to Augie announcers today...have no reason to side with a team/program that I have grown to hate simply because they were and still are our rivals at wheaton BUT... they are the best cciw announcers hands down, they acctually sound like they know something about football...by the way that hate was only a competative hate...and despite Augie taking away all hope of Wheaton getting to the playoffs today, I am glad they won (not wanting to add to all the "class of fans" crap) NCC players and fans always pissed everyone off. Augie fans have had great opportunities to boo with the wheaton/augie games ending in the "augie heartbreaking" way they have for the past 4 years but even being a player who had to walk back by the slightly intoxicated fans that hang out  near the locker rooms, I don't remember hearing excuses...at least any non-slurred excuses (the slurred ones don't count).  Long story short...Augie players congrats...Augie fans congrats...and Augie announcers congrats.  
By the way...lets go Wheaton...lets beat the CCIW champs.  (sounds weird doesn't it), I think that would be nice bragging rights for wheaton, it'll be nice "we should've gone to the playoffs" talk years down the road for the seniors and great motivation for the young guys for next year to get 2 trophies back!!! (little brass bell and the CCIW title)   ...and north park, lets have a miracle upset (still hoping for a pool c)

Pretty sure that a two-loss North Central would go ahead of a two-loss Wheaton (and neither would go at all). Nasty little business of that head-to-head game.

shepherd-traditional west coast offenses don't usually use the shotgun. when was the last time you saw donavan mcnabb in the shotgun? green bay uses it some and mariucci in detroit has gone to it a bit but he never used in in san fran when he was there. besides, the west coast offense is centered much more around the personell groupings.

shepherd- other than the shotgun package, wheaton's plays are exactly the same as last year.

chupp rolling left and throwing to musso?? wheaton's recievers line up right and left (they usually don't flip/flop) for the last two years colin sinclair was on the left and brad musso on the right. maybe you meant the play action boot w musso dragging? they haven't run many crossing routes this year because chupp has thrown most of his int's on crossing routes. for some reason he isn't the same qb as he was a year ago. i tend to think its something personal we just don't know about.

looks like to me the wheaton coaches are rotating the qbs by quarter since carthage game. chupp is a much better passer than andrews when he throws it to the right guys. andrews is a hard nosed kid and runs well.

what does formations have to do with poor technique? i haven't seen many shotgun offenses w 1 reciever.

Chupp couldn't be a more quality individual but it is hard to call someone a better passer with 17 interceptions.  The rest of the season should be a fantastic learning opportunity for Chupp from the sidelines for his future as a fantastic wheaton quarterback and a great finish of the game of football for another quality "hardnosed" quarterback in old Franky Andrews. I think teachable people learn more from failure than success and Chupp being one of the most humble and teachable guys I have ever met I have no doubt he will rebound in a way that will shock the other teams in the CCIW next year.

Great win for Augie today. I couldn't make it to the game, but reading the reports and looking at the box score, it looks like the Vikes accomplished just about everything they needed to do: ran the ball effectively; won the time of possession battle; and slowed down Kniss, Spencer, Holden, etc. just enough to pull it off. However, they were -2 in turnovers, which I thought would be one of the keys as well. It also sounds like their special teams came up huge with a couple blocked kicks and Patterson's 43-yard FG and 42.2 yard punting average. After a bad week last week, the defense was apparently terrific again, holding the most explosive offense in the league to three scores on 13 possessions with six three-and-outs. Great job!

I'm not sure how anyone ever scores in this league, since Augie runs the option (which is easy to stop) and everyone else runs the west coast offense (which is stupid).

no one is questioning Chupp's talent...but it cannot be said that he is a better passer than anyone with 17 interceptions.  I know about the passes he threw...I was on the field with him when he threw them.  You're not a good reciever unless a quarterback can at least put it in the vicinity of your hands, Chupp did that last year...for some reason not this year...like a said a "learning year" for Chupp.

Augies Wing T "Easy To Stop?"  That is about the most rediculous thing I've read yet on this forum!  Funny how it's been a while since I've responded to any of the comments here.  However, all I've read thus far as to how Carthage is going to beat Augie, how North Central is going to win, etc, etc.  Well, none of you stopped Augies run and teams in the CCIW (those of you that have played against Augie) are still trying to figure out how to stop Augie!  I played with Reade back in 89 and to this day, nobody has figured it out quite frankly.  We still either win the conference or are in it the last week of the year. 

Another thing: I looked last night at Carthage and NCC non conference games - weak to say the least.  Start playing good teams and prove yourselves.  Well done Augie, now go win a National Championship - Oh yeah, we still gotta play Wheaton.....

You have no facts and ignore facts.  Wheaton runs the west coast offense.  So does every other team at least partly.  Obviously you didn't hear the North Central game or see it.   They weren't going out of the shotgun?  You do not know football so stop pretending that you do.

Wheaton does NOT running the west coast offense.  It's an offensive scheme JR Bishop as evolved LONG before the "west coast" offense was even a concept.

I really have to question if you know what you are talking about.  Augie won four straight National Championships (something that no school in any Division has ever done) with the same one dimensional offense.  Sounds like a "great" team to me.  They have consistently been one of the top teams in the CCIW and are regularly ranked nationally.  Their lack of success over the past few seasons (by success I mean CCIW championships and playoff appearances) can be attributed to a suspect Defense and not the one-dimensional nature of the offense.  For the past 25 years, the offense has regularly averaged 300+ yards rushing and 30+ points per game.  Until someone demonstrates an ability to stop the wing-t, there is no reason to change the offense.  It worked when I played and continues to work today.
