Yup, I noted in the post that Trinity has had the most All NESCAC honorees since 2022. That's part of the reason I find it so unusual. I am NOT saying there's some type of collusion and/or anti-Trinity bias.

All I'm saying is that it's strange. Does anyone disagree?

I am guessing we don't know anything about the process for nomination for such awards.

All it says on the league website is:
"Every Monday during the season, a NESCAC Player of the Week will be selected based on information submitted by the athletic communications offices at member institutions."

I'm assuming these submissions make up the "NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll" which is published along with the Players of the Week selections. My guess is that someone, or a small group of people, at the league office looks at the Honor Roll submissions and then picks who they think is the most deserving that week. Maybe Trinity's athletics communications team doesn't provide a compelling enough case to the league office?

Or Trinity chooses to nominate less often and make it more special (something like that could be drive by the coaching staff) or generally, Trinity's individual performances aren't the best in any given week but they are consistent and add up over the course of a season.

It looks like the "NESCAC Weekly Honor Roll" started in 2023. Prior to that "NESCAC Football Notes" summarized top performances by team (presumably submitted by the school's athletics comms office). As far as I can tell, at least since 2022, every team in the league has submitted something to the league highlighting at least one player after every game.

This topic has probably taken up more time/space here than I intended. I just thought it was odd.

How about a little fun instead?!  ;D
Through five games Trinity's defense has scored as many touchdowns (4) as it has allowed. That's also the same number of touchdowns Bowdoin has scored all season. Which begs the question... if the Bantams only played defense against the Polar Bears on Saturday would they win?

Trin 9-0,
That brings up two changes that are needed.  First, there should be a deduction from offensive points per game total for all TDs an offense, or special teams yielded.  Second, the defensive stat of points per game allowed total should subtract all TDs made by the defense.  This is clearly a more accurate measurement of the quality of a D. Points the O actually scores and the points the D yields minus its TDs are more accurate measurements of the quality of each unit.  With this method, what are the total field goals yielded by Trinity divided by 5?  That is what is more telling about a Ds performance than not including defensive TDs, let alone letting the Os take credit for the D's TDS. Hmmm.

Trinity has allowed 1 field goal this season. I forgot they also notched a safety against Bates, so using your method the Bantam defense would have a given up a single net point on the year which is 0.2 points per game.

Conversely, on offense Trinity's points scored per game would drop from 37.4 to 31.4. This would put them second in scoring behind Wes, whose defense has accounted for 7 points this year.

My guess is they get tired of picking Trinity guys over the years which is unfair but may be the case.

So we all understand how amazing Trin D is so far .. they are likely allowing about 4 points fewer per game than the No. 2 ranked D in D3.  Wow.

Sounds similar to the selection process the NESCACMAN Consortium uses for our weekly NESCAC ranking poll...

BTW, not saying NESCACMAN has a vote in the weekly awards, but...

Hartford State is also #1 in the country is total defense and defensive yards per play allowed. Credit where credit is due...
