"Notable"...or more accurately, "material" inaccuracies.

Going back to the TB battle in Tufts vs. Williams, it really was fun to watch.  Two very different styles, two elite players.  Shapiro runs a lot like Cam Skattebo - very small but powerful for his size and incredibly shifty with quick, violent cuts. The Ephs did a great job wrapping him up in the first half before he ran through and around more tired defenders in the second (the Ephs' starting front seven is really, really good, but the depth, especially on the defensive line, is highly suspect and those guys have to play a lot of snaps and make a lot of big plays for the D to succeed, and visibly wore down late against Tufts).

It's too bad it was in a losing effort because that was an incredibly impressive game from Jack Fabiano.  He has average size, and I'd say about average speed and burst for a NESCAC starting tailback.  What makes him so good is his vision - he always seems to find the hole; his smooth change of direction; his elite ability to break tackles; and especially his insane ability to finish runs.  He always seems to be moving forward / leaning forward and adds 1-2 yards to any run he has any momentum on, it's uncanny.  He had a few huge holes against Tufts, but for the most part, he was breaking tackles and navigating a ton of traffic, doing a ton on his own; he maximizes every ounce of his athletic ability.  I also like the potential of the Ephs' other FY runner, Aidan Clarke, who has a style similar to Shapiro, but Fabiano is already elite as a TB and a a very mature player for a FY. One other Eph FY to watch on offense is Gage Turnbull, who looked good in his first start at LT against Tufts.  Now the Ephs just need to figure out how to get the running game AND the passing game both going in the same game, and they will be in business ...

As for Bowdoin, I still can't believe some enterprising student journalist hasn't broken this story.  Bowdoin is a very small community and I assume that everyone on campus has already heard whatever details have been circulating about these events.

Don't feel like scrolling through ads for any info on this board but is Hammer out because of Health or an HR investigation?

I believe HR.  If it was health they would have said so to diffuse any speculation.

Turns out, that's still pushing rumors in a way in which I would rather we not, sorry.

Quote from: jmh21 on October 23, 2026, 05:58:57 PMWilliams has really struggled with Tufts the last few years even when having the better team on paper...even the 2021 team needed some late game magic to beat them. Hopefully that changes this year but I would be somewhat surprised if we win by double digits

Can't figure this Tufts program out---great recruiting venue, superb academic rankings, great location, university post grad program, huge enrollment....... but Coach Civetti seldom gets a sniff of the NESCAC Football title. Tufts is dominant in a number of other sports .....why the middling results in football...

He couldn't win with a team that had like 5 all Americans. Two FBS transfers. And one of the best quarterbacks in nescac history. What makes you think he'd have any hope of making any other team win any meaningful games

It should be noted that besides the 2 HCOF's that are on leave currently, several key assistant coaches are not currently with their teams including Trinity Associate HCOF and Defensive Coordinator Lew Acquarulo (noted previously by Hs7-2) and Hamilton Offensive Line Coach Dalton Maska. We wish them well and hope to have them back soon.

I guess you'd call it an HR issue Jonny. Hammer is alleged to have made an ill advised decision in his duties as the HCOF. I now have an eyewitness account of the incident and believe the allegations are accurate and he will be dismissed.
My personal speculation is he may have lawyered up and there is a legal process unfolding but based on my account of the events I think it's unlikely that he would prevail.

The esteemed leader of this forum has censored a posted account of the events so I guess this isn't Radio Free Europe.

agreed, lumbercat, on the lawyering up perhaps by both Hammer and the college. hence, the cone of silence, which tends to be an easy response when in the midst of a legal dispute. at some point in the not-too-distant future, the college is going to have to make a decision.
