UWO knocks off Platteville in the series finale 12-6 to split the series...

1. Whitewater 13-0
2. La Crosse 10-4
3. Eau Claire 6-5
4. Platteville 7-7
5. River Falls 7-7
6. UWO 6-8
7. Stevens Point 3-11
8. Stout 1-11

Truly feel like both Whitewater and La Crosse are a step above the other six teams in the league. Then you have four teams battling for the other two WIAC Tournament spots.

Quote from: cubs on July 21, 2025, 12:40:49 PMFour pitchers from Whitewater's 2025 National Championship squad have transferred to the DI level, following in the footsteps of former teammate Michael Hilker (Arizona):

Cade Hansen -----> Baylor
Logan Eisenbarth ----> Florida Gulf Coast
Jack Hagen ----> Butler
George Hansen ---->  Oakland
Pretty rough results for the latest round of D3 to D1 transfers..

C. Hansen has appeared in 9 games (4 starts) for Baylor and pitched to an 11.84 ERA in just under 20 innings of work.  Opponents are hitting .409 against him.  His last appearance was on April 3rd against BYU.

Eisenbarth has appeared in 6 games (all in relief) for Florida Gulf Coast and has a 10.13 ERA in just 8 innings of work.  Opponents are hitting .412 against him, with a lot of LOUD contact, as opponents have hit 5 doubles and a HR in the 14 hits he's allowed.  His last appearance in a game was on March 31st against the Miami Hurricanes.

Hagen has appeared in 13 games (all in relief) for Butler and has a 6.75 ERA in just over 20 innings of work.  Opponents are hitting .329 against him, with a lot of LOUD contact, as opponents have hit 6 HR's, 4 doubles, and a triple in the 28 hits he's allowed.

G. Hansen has appeared in 8 games (4 starts) for Oakland and pitched to an 10.07 ERA in just under 20 innings of work.  Opponents are hitting .304 against him.  His last appearance was on April 10th against UW-Milwaukee.

Game two cancelled in the top of second with the WARHAWKS leading 2-0.
The Whitewater website has the series finale as being "postponed after the start of the second inning. The make-up date is still to be determined."

I was relying on the information provided by the broadcasting crew.  I'd be more than surprised if we drive up to EC a third time.

So.....UWW that good?! Or does the conference suck this year. I see no WIAC team mentioned in the top 25. Or even getting votes.

You can't minimize what the WARHAWKS have accomplished to date. Winning 22 consecutive games with a roster that includes 22 new faces and lost at least 3 of the projected starting pitchers to the portal and the fourth to an injury in the first game of the season is a significant accomplishment regardless of the state of the conference. The league may be down some but it's still 68-32 in nonconference play with only a single team sporting a losing record.

The WARHAWKS swept Platteville yesterday 9-6 and 12-1 (7 inn.).  Sam Steuber (5-0) went 6 innings allowing 5 hits, 2 runs/earned with a pair of walks and 5 strikeouts for the win in game one.  Gradin Taschner picked up his 5th save.  Andy Thies had 3 hits including a home run and drove in 4 runs.  Aaron Holland also had 3 hits and an RBI.  Dominik McVay had an RBI.

Game two was a run rule win for the WARHAWKS.  Ben Lee (3-0) got the win pitching 6 innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 run/earned, walking a pair and striking out 5. Skyler Sievert threw a hitless inning in relief and had a strikeout.  Holland and Thies continued their hot hitting with 3 hits apiece and were joined by Evan Olson's 3 hits. Leyton Bowers, McVay and Landen Seymour had a pair of hits.  Jackson Spring hit a 3 run home run and Seymour also had 3 RBIs.  Olson and Bowers each had a pair of RBIs while Holland and Thies each had a single RBI.

I would say this is as weak as I've seen the WIAC in at least 25+ years, if not more... The streak Whitewater is on this year reminds me of the mid 1980's-late 1990's UWO teams, where they racked up wins at will on their WSUC/WIAC counterparts. UWO's dominance in conference play back then carried over to Regional play during that time too as they were in the World Series on a regular basis which included winning a pair of National Championsips (1985 and 1994.) I'll be curious to see how things go for Whitewater once the Postseason rolls around.

WARHAWKS take a pair of close games over Platteville today 3-1 and 4-3.  The two teams were 3-1 after four innings before pitching put an end to any further scoring.  Jackson Koenig (W,4-0) got the start pitching 5.2 inning, allowing 4 hits, an unearned run with a walk and 4 strikeouts.  Franklin Kirchner (S,2) relieved with 3.1 hitless innings walking a batter and striking out 4.  Dominik McVay had a pair of hits and an RBI.  Aaron Holland and Landen Seymour also had RBIs.

The WARHAWKS picked up 3 runs in their first at bat on 3 hits, 2 passed balls and a double steal of third and home and held a 4-1 lead after the fourth.  Platteville pulled to within a run with a pair of runs in the sixth but Theo Zeidler (S,2) shut the door with 3 hitless innings in relief with a strikeout to preserve the win.  Gradin Taschner (W,3-0) started and allowed 5 hits and 1 r/er with a walk and 6 strikeouts over 5 innings before being relieved. Skyler Sievert pitched an inning. Jackson Spring had a pair of hits and an RBI for the WARHAWKS.

Because it may have some bearing in the conference tournament seeding the postponed game 4 against Eau Claire will be resumed on April 29. The WARHAWKS lead 2-0 with Eau Claire batting in the bottom of the second.
