I use overall stats. I meant to include coaches along with media in my question mark. I was certain the coaches participated, wasn't sure about media. The coaches definitely look at it from an overall standpoint as well. ABCA Rawlings All -Region team out now with same as D3 except a little more in line with my rankings, adding Carinci and minus Bonizzio. ABCA aligned with my top 7 over the past two years with the top 4 from last year that I mentioned earlier plus Quincel and Marousek in top six earning All-Region plus Palmieri both years. Kilbane of BW was the only exception to my list. I have him #2 last year and #4 this year and he was excluded. The only reason would be because 1B was loaded with Camphausen of Case who I think lead the country in HRs and Kramer of Wooster. Kilbane was deserving both years, either at DH last year or 1B this year where he was great defensively as well.

That's where it gets tricky.  If they're strict with a true positional reflection (and I prefer that they are for the regional and AA levels) then 1B is so freaking difficult with only three guys included.  Obviously the OAC doesn't care for all-conference awards.  Multiple 1st team 1B.  Same thing in football where there has been multiple QB's numerous years.  I'm fine with that at the conference level as the coaches I think are trying their best to reward the guys they feel are the best players regardless of position while trying to keep it reasonable (i.e. we can't have all 1B and OF and no 2B on the 1st team).  Tough needle to thread, but I think they do a good job at it.

Just saw Carinci is in the portal for next yr.

That 1B is tough..poor Melick from Muskingum odd man out.  .351/.429/.608, 7 HR, 44 RBI, 40 R, 7 SB, 90 total bases, .991 fielding...that deserves something in the region.  Especially when you consider that ABCA included 6 1B...two of which are from the same team.  I'm taking Melick over Thomas and Alonso for sure.

I prefer All-Star teams that look like a line-up, 8 position players a DH, and a utility. I want 4-5 starting pitchers and 1 reliever. If the majority of teams are also using a set-up reliever in most games, then okay.

I agree about Weston Melick. Should have been All-Region.

Carinci in the Portal is disappointing. I'm not against transfers but am against three and four in a career. I don't want to see D3 looking like D1 football mercenaries.

Well, that didn't work out.  #1 seed falls in two games and Denison lost last night.
