That Berea team was the worst D3 team I've seen.  Talked to a local HS coach who filled me in on some details.  Apparently, no students pay for tuition..everyone goes to school for free. Each student has to work at least 2 hours a day on campus at various jobs.  Their roster was made up of several kids from Puerto Rico.  Weird.  Neat little town and beautiful campus/facilities..just not very good baseball.

Cap with 3 more HR yesterday but dropped out of the top spot nationally..still at #2 with 20 HR.  Still lead in HR per game nationally.

I need to catch up this week's games tomorrow, but I did notice this morning Tome started his 4th straight game at SS.  2nd team All-OAC as a C as a freshman and this year he's caught 3 of their 10 games (with a freshman catching the other 7, ironically).  He's started 4 games at SS, 3 at C, 3 at 2B.

Nice 9-4 win for Mount over #19 UW Oshkosh this morning.  Ickes got the W and had 2 hits at the plate.

I think it's going to be another long year in Westerville.  They're 1-8 so far.  Their lone win was a 4-3 game over 4-8 Hope.  Hope's most recent game they lost 16-3 to Mount.  The Cards' team BA is .240 and their pitching is struggling equally as much.  8.23 ERA, BAA of .317 and they've issued 54 free passes in 74 IP.  They are starting a sophomore and 2 freshmen as their rotation so at least building for the future, but it may be bumpy for a bit.

Wilm is 0-6.  I can't imagine their record ends up anything but bad.  As usual they seem to have a few nice pieces, but just no depth to consistently execute and win games.

Etta is 1-7, but they've played a Marietta schedule.  Not saying they're good, but they're definitely not bad.

Mount checks in at #21 in the poll this week.  They're 11-2.  BW and ONU are ORV. I still think BW is the class of the OAC currently.  Their schedule has been rough.  Northern had a bad loss recently.

Muskies finished up a frustrating spring trip going 1-4 and a weather cancellation.  Played a good Mary Washington team where again defense and lack of hitting let them down.  4 errors in game 1, should have been 6.  Got outplayed in game 2 and had game 3 won but another error cost them the game.  Beat average Guilford team and lost to average Greensboro.  Had Greensboro 4-0 headed to 7th.  Left bases loaded twice, including the 8th in the middle of a rally..dumb base running.

Sorry, I was on vacation so haven't been paying attention to other teams.

Watching the box scores it seems like they're having trouble scoring runs.  As a long time OAC guy seeing a Muskie team whose problem is not being able to hit just doesn't compute.

Several interesting games today down south.

BW vs. #1 Denison
Etta vs. #4 Belhaven
Mount vs. #7 Salve Regina

Not a great day for us yesterday.  BW lost 13-5.  Etta lost 8-7.  Mount lost 6-3.  Then today Etta gets beat 18-5 by Cortland St.  Their schedule is absolutely brutal.  Mount gave up 4 runs early with not one but two errors on pickoff throws that inning hurting their cause.  They cut it to 4-3 in the 7th, but Salve pushed it out to 6-3 in the 8th.

Cap lost a pair yesterday with game 1 to Bluffton 4-3, game 2 to Chatham 5-3.  After their red hot 7-0 start they're 3-5 since and have scored 4 or fewer runs in 6 of those 8 games.

Ott has dropped 9 straight to sit at 1-12.  Their last 5 games they've scored 9 runs total.

Wilm was swept in a 3 game series to Oberlin this weekend.  They're 0-10 to start the season, but they've been competitive in almost evry game including losing 6-4 to #12 Centre.

Surprising losses by Cap the way they can hit.  Really soft schedule to start the season.

BW getting smacked around by Denison twice this year.  #1 Denison letting everyone in OH know they are the big dogs now.  Would have liked to see BW and Adrian game results but cancelled.

Mount doesn't look like they have taken much of a step backwards like I thought they might.

Muskies finally starting to hit a bit but lost series to Alma.  Top of their lineup could swing it.  Talked to Brewer at the Muskingum game.  He was there watching a friend's kid play. Still pretty salty as you could imagine.  Feel bad for him.

Ott & Marietta young and it shows.  Marietta faithful getting frustrated but that schedule is brutal.
