I wonder if I need an X account to see it.

Noticed something unusual when I was looking at John Carroll's schedule on the main page.
Wittenberg isn't marked as a regional game. When I looked at Wittenberg's schedule, none of the NCAC conference teams are marked as regional opponents.
Is this just a website glitch or is Wittenberg not in the same region for some reason?
Guessing a glitch but it seemed odd

No, it's just Wittenberg's Presto website screwing with the data. They did with football, too. It'll get fixed.

NCAC Preseason poll is out: 1)Denison 2)John Carrol 3) Wooster 4) Depauw 5) Wabash 6) OWU 7) Oberlin 8) Wittenberg 9) Kenyon.

What are peoples's thoughts?

Dr. Acula

I know little about NCAC hoops, but personally I was very surprised to see Witt picked 2nd from the bottom.  I figured since Denison was the only NCAC team receiving top 25 votes that they'd top the poll.  JCU has Chicone back.  That alone makes them dangerous as I'm guessing he'll be a contender for POY, but they lost a lot from last year.  Much like the OAC, with no clear favorite and no teams even ranked it should be a competitive (chaotic?) conference schedule.

Witt certainly the early season surprise along with Woo's 3-4 start.

Any idea why Wooster is struggling so much this year? Are they young? Injuries?

Dr. Acula

OWU beats JCU 106-90 in UH.  I did not have JCU at 2-3 and Wooster at 1-4 on my uneducated preseason guess.

Dr. Acula

Looking at the current standings and in-conference results so far as an OAC fan and I'm jealous.  It certainly seems like there are 4 or 5 teams that have a legitimate chance to win the NCAC.  Even teams outside that group are competitive.  OWU beat JCU.  Oberlin beat DPU yesterday.  Should be a fun season to watch.

I am watching the John Carroll at Wabash game right now.   Thanks to D3Datacast's new "Game Score" function on their MBB Score predictions page, which lists this game as one of their top 5 games to watch today based on "game score", which is an indication of potential game excitement factor.   Today's top 5 D3 Men's basketball games to watch according to D3Datacast's "game score" include 2 NESCAC games, a NEWMAC game, this NCAC game, and an evening WIAC contest.

Update-- Since I last posted this, the D3Datacast MBB Score Predictions page updated to include Trinity (CT) at Wesleyan as the #1 game to watch today based on "game score excitement factor"-- bumping this evening's WIAC contest of UW-Stevens Point at UW-La Crosse down to #6. John Carroll at Wabash still listed in the top 5 D3 men's basketball games to watch today-- along with Trinity (CT) at Wesleyan, Tufts at Conn College, Babson at WPI, and Colby at Bowdoin.

Nice to see Chadwick Court with the Chadwick Crazies back in the building.   I do have a question--

When did the Wabash College video network start including ESPN sports graphics in their sports streams?   I am watching this game on Hudl, but if I didn't know that I was watching this game on Hudl, I would have thought that ESPN+ got the streaming rights to this game.

John Carroll leading at the half at Wabash, 49-42.   This is only the third meeting overall between John Carroll and Wabash, and the first visit for the John Carroll Blue Streaks to Chadwick Court since 1991.

John Carroll looking for their first victory ever over Wabash in the history of the series.

Luke Chicone of John Carroll is leading all scorers with a game high 18 points.   Chicone is a grad student who played his freshman season for Youngstown State in the D-I Horizon League before transferring to John Carroll for his sophomore year.   He is playing out his final season this year due to a season ending injury that he sustained last year after playing the first 4 games of the season.

The Q-cast needs to get an interview with Chicone now that he is healthy and playing again.  Bob Quillman did interview some of his John Carroll teammates last year.  (See Season 5, Episode 43 of the Q-Cast (1/26/2025) for the interview.)

Wabash just called their first coaches challenge of the season and it was successful.   The Wabash stream benefits from being of ESPN level quality with 4 camera angles, making it easier for the referees to review the court monitors and instantly give possession to Wabash.  The challenge happened with 3:31 remaining in the game.

John Carroll still leading over Wabash, 82-71, with 1:51 left.   This seems low-scoring given the track meet pace that the Blue Streaks tend to run.  D3Datacast had the game as a pick em with the over-under total at 190 points combined by both teams.

Final from Chadwick Court--

John Carroll 86, Wabash 74

Luke Chicone of John Carroll with a game high 32 points-- only 1 assist shy of a double-double in points and assists-- 38 minutes played.

John Carroll gets their first ever victory over the Little Giants in only their 3rd game of the series overall and the second game as a conference rivalry.
