I would rather have toothpicks propping my eyelids open to watch the football 2OT loss to Joan Carroll than see this b-ball game in Ada today.

Before venturing to Otterbein.
Some potential broom-handle trip-ups are in there.
Ouch! and OUCH!!!
Otterbein rules the roost!

Some ugly basketball today...Mount both halves, Muskie and Etta turned halfime ties into 14 and 23 point stinker losses.

Based upon what we have experienced with the Purple Raiders, and what we know, this is mind-boggling.
Too much time in the pool?
(One of those leadership reaction exercises centered on "righting the ship" is necessary.)

It didn't take much thought...
Whether that be basketball, football, la crosse, baseball, or tidily winks ... I stand with the Purple Raiders. I wear their colors and logos proudly!
My passion for this university (where my Dad worked, and my Sister and I graduated with honors) will forever remain unshaken.
I do not have to take a "Chance." This Purple Raider men's basketball team will finish the season unblemished and once again be the OAC champs, leading into the post season draw.
If I am wrong, I will buy wings at BWW on State Street for y'all.! (on a Tuesday morning, between 10:00 and 10:02 AM ... purple will need to get off his butt at Heggy's to participate).
I bleed Purple and White, and my Johns Hopkins doctors don't know why!

Wow.  I was out of town this weekend and returned to Snowmageddon in Columbus.  It was miserable.  The only silver lining is that I wasn't able to watch the game in Ada.  Scorers going through droughts isn't uncommon, but having multiple guys go cold all at the same time isn't fun.  50 points isn't going to win games in the Federal League (unless you're playing Lake or Green) let alone OAC games.  Time to dig in and fight.  In the past when Fuline teams have been in spots like this they lock in defensively and just suffocate opponents, force turnovers and let the defense fuel the offense.

Mount tumbles from #4 to #13 this week.  Otterbein is up to #21.  A win Saturday for the Cards and they could be switching spots.

Please, PLEASE stop using the under the hoop camera angle during game action.  Trust me, it's actually better when you can see the more than half the floor and see the guys shooting the ball.

Also, Marietta's big guy is killing them so far.  Seem tentative like they're scared of getting in foul trouble.

Update: now that's a bounce back half!  49-30 good guys.  Collier 5-5 from deep against the zone.

I've watched both games and I don't say this lightly.  Marietta is bad.  They have three players I like but as a team they are bad.  They were bad last year but before that?  We're going back to 18 yrs ago in JVW's first year that they've been this bad.

Early, I was concerned Mount's malaise was going to last three games. Collier seemed to wake the whole team and the rout was on.  A nice 8 for 10 from deep!

Marietta needs a lot of help.

What happened to the Muskies? Lost 5 of 7 after a 10-1 start with only a 3 point loss to Mount.

Ott vs Mount on Saturday.  Good test for both.

The concern early on was warranted.  They seemed a little flat and Wiesnewski was taking it at Laurich aggressively and hitting the offensive glass.  It was almost like they were walking on egg shells hoping it wasn't going to be another bad shooting night after they got down a little early on against that zone D.  I think Hamilton making (I think?) his first 5 shots helped calm them down then Collier blew the zone up with those 3 consecutive triples and it was off to the races.

I mentioned earlier that in the past Fuline's teams right the ship by becoming laser focused on the defensive end.  They weren't the first handful of minutes of the game.  After?  They held Etta to 30% shooting in the first half building the 19 point lead, forced 18 turnovers for the game and the Pios didn't crack the 40 point mark until 12 minutes into the 2nd half when Mount was up 36.
