Just way too many turnovers.  Their outstanding FT shooting is what kept them in the game.  Who would have thought we'd be saying that a couple years ago?

Bottom line is that they did not handle pressure well so teams like Wilm or Berg that are undersized and more likely to pick you up full court and pressure you were tough on them.  So when W&J starts pressing some I was nervous right there.  Despite that when they called TO up 75-73 with 1:30 left I thought if they got a stop they were going to win.  Instead they played good defense and a kid hit an off balance 3 off one leg falling out of bounds.

It's disappointing.  Especially losing your last two games to teams you're clearly better than.  I would have liked to see them win a couple games as much for next year as this year.  But the long view has always been that this is about making a run next year.  Laurich almost certainly could get a medical red shirt.  Not sure about Moore for next year.  Collier is gone.  Weekley is going to contribute more next year.  You could tell in the OAC tourney and yesterday he is not fazed in big games.  Between the OAC semi and yesterday he was 7-9 FG, 3-5 3PT, 2-2 FT for 19 points in 24 minutes.  Bright future ahead.

Chase C has entered the portal.  I'm sure that big time basketball programs will be offering a 5'9" guard left and right.  D3Hoops in '26

I was wondering if this would happen.  Not sure where he could land.  I woulda have said maybe Walsh, but JR Jackson is headed there.  Maybe he'll end up back in Alliance when all is said and done.  Just ask Gurley.  As we hear repeatedly in this wonderful era of college sports, entering the transfer portal doesn't mean they are transferring so we'll see.

If he does transfer that obviously is a major loss.  One of the young guys or a new face will need to step up.  If your starting point for next season is the OAC POY in the post and an All-OAC PG I'm not crying the blues though.  Not like Fuline hasn't adjusted when he lost one of his best players mid-career previously.  In Mike We Trust.

It's all so silly.  If Chase C wants to get paid to play basketball, go for it and good luck

but if I was a sub 6' PG, who tossed up a 3-10, 0-4 3FG, 6 PT 3 A 4 TO in a first round upset loss, I don't know if I would be searching out new opportunities

Casenhiser posted on X that he has an offer from D2 Cedarville.  They were 13-15, 8-12 in the GMAC.  Continuing the "this is the era we live in" trend I also saw that Brayden Gross has entered the portal after his first year at Walsh looking to move up to D1.  He has a visit with N. Illinois and other MAC schools are interested.  Walsh is also losing a starting guard to the portal.

Laurich has also entered the portal.

That's interesting.  I wonder where he's going to go.  I'd be surprised if he moved up unless someone was desperate for some size.  Not a knock.  Laurich is a solid D3 player, but he's not Casenhiser.

Casenheiser had a problem with quick guards. He was picked and frustrated by the quickness of Wilmington and Heidelberg, and in the tourney. When he does get on a streak, he is amazing, however, we did not see that against those quick opponents.  Laurich will battle you all night long. He is not,IMO, as talented as many he faced, but outworked many.  His free throw shooting is suspect. I hope he stays at Mount.
