Spartans took Gamw 4 today 15-3.

It appears that CWRU won every conference series this year.

Wow.

The highest ranked NESCAC team is only 67?  I would have thought that that would be a better baseball conference.

My thought is that it is a down year. Either that or the coaches and ADs reassess their nonconference games.

But they may already had a general impression of their schedules and it truly is a down year.

Look at the Little East. No one is setting the world ablaze over there.

CWRU closes the regular season with wins over cross town rivals John Carroll and Baldwin-Wallace.

They appear playoff ready!

Our of curiosity, is there any chance of CWRU hosting a regional?

If they submitted paperwork and their NPI is in the Top 16 is my guess.

It appears that CWRU will indeed be hosting a regional with North Central, Centre, and Arcadia.

Nobby's Ballpark is a great venue.

OUCH!!!!

We gotta play the #1 ranked team on their diamond?

Oof!  That's a pretty tall order.

This week is quite a test.  Men's tennis plays #1 ranked Claremont-Scripps tonight.

This weekend, baseball plays #1 ranked JHU in a best of three.

NEED AN UPSET!!!

Here's the other thing.

People talk about how declining birthrates will create a "demographic cliff."

The only problem with that is.......it fails to take IMMIGRATION into account.  Birthrates in the USA have been below replacement for some time, but the US population has continued to increase due largely to immigration (unlike countries like Japan where immigration is very low).

How much will immigration offset the difference in birthrate when it comes to higher education?  Won't those immigrants often bring children with them that will eventually need higher educaton?

Just sayin'!

Has anyone given that any thought?  I assume the answer is yes, but if they have, then why aren't I hearing anything about how that will offset any decline?

Just curious.

Without straying into politics, I'm just going to say I'm not sure that immigration into the U.S. will happen in as great a number as it might have previously.
