It appears that Coach Creal was quietly promoted to head coach at Westminster and is the interim athletic director.

I'm pretty sure hopefan had posted during the season that Creal was going to become the new head coach. Not sure about the interim AD part, which it looks like they call Interim VP of Intercollegiate Athletics.

I never know what to make of posts that are filled with emojis.  :P :P :P :P

That was the closest thing to a public acknowledgement of the change until the last week or so.

Just noticed Fontbonne will be down South in Florida this December playing at Webber International and St. Leo.... St. Leo is an NCAA Division 2 school located slightly North of Tampa... a pretty easy drive for me from our Tierra Verde condo... St Leo plays in the highly respected D2 Sunshine Conference..another member is Eckerd, virtually within walking distance for me... St. Leo is not normally a conference playoff team, but don't let that fool you, good D2 conference means very good players... the Griffs will have their hands full... hoping to be there to root them on....

Wishing a D3 team would come down and play the Eckerd and University of Tampa combo...they are only 30-40 minutes apart.... great place to visit in Nov/Dec....

The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

And they don't necessarily have to play those non D3 teams. Seems like it's becoming a trend for these warm weather schools to simply host D3 teams and not even play them. I do like that, playing in the warm weather states and not sacrificing one or two D3 opponents.

Aren't there some new allowances for number of exhibitions so that any games Fontbonne plays in Florida might not count toward the 25 game regular schedule?

The rule is supposed to be that any exhibition during the regular season counts against your 25 allowed. You don't have to count it, but you can't replace it.

They weren't enforcing it during covid, but they might now?

As to Florida visits for D3 teams.... Fontbonne's trip includes single games at Webber Int and St Leo... they are playing those schools.... but there are also 2 night tourneys hosted by D2 schools that bring down 4 D3 schools... Calvin (Hope's D3 Major Rival) is playing at Rollins this year in a 4 teamer, and played two years ago in a similar tourney at Eckerd that I attended wearing My Hope sweatshirt (but rooting for Calvin).  Hope comes to Orlando every other year and plays in a four team tourney.  Attendance isn't very good... Hope always has some people come down from Michigan, but most fans from most participants are alumni who have moved to Florida....

You beat me to the punch.

Lyon College to the SLIAC is interesting.

Batesville is 5 hours away from St. Louis.

Lyon was in the American Midwest conference in the NAIA.

A quick note on Lyons basketball.

The men's basketball program finished 10-20 last season going 0-5 against Columbia College and Missouri Baptist in games that were not close according to the final tally.

The did go 1-1 against the local pharmacy school and 2-1 against Harris Stowe.

There is some overlap except for Harris Stowe (I do not remember Harris Teachers playing the SLIAC much).

But more like 7+ hours from Spalding and Eureka.

WUPHF

Not as bad as the Mississippi University for Women who will drive a minimum of 7 hours for every conference game, excluding the Lyon game.  7 hours to Louisville and St. Louis and 8 hours or more elsewhere.

There was talk of Lyon football and the UMAC on the other thread.  That, if it happened, would involve 1-2 trips to Westminster or Greenville and then 3-5 trips of the 14-17 hour variety per season.  Not including breaks.
