Hopefan - Just listing the heights per bio's. Rapp was injured part of last year. Webster attended almost every game he played. Extremely smart player and is obviously familar with Branch. Played with some very good players. Sheetz also plays men's volleyball and was coached by former Griffin Kevin Walsh. Very athletic and extremeley good jumper. Patrick (SLUH) has been out four years, he's 23 yrs. old, much bigger then he was in H.S.

Still waiting on one more to be finalized. At least FU is posting some of their recruits.

Finalized Schedule for 07-08.

Exhibition- @ Oakland City and @ SLU

1st game at Big 4 Classic - William Penn

Wash U., Rose Hulman and Franklin at Home.

@ Cal Tech and @ Hope International

Be nice to hear some news out of the other schools. But, Oh well. This will give somebody something to talk about. After Hopefan picked the loser in all three conference tournament games it appears he is the Sports Illustrated jinx. Let's hope he doesn't pick FU as his pre season favorite.

Hey, Hope International had a better record than Caltech!!!!!!

Yes, it would be nice to know something about new players at other SLIAC schools. But most of us posters don't have the same access to info that fcnews has with Fontbonne. It will all sort itself out by the end of February.

Food for thought!!!

With FU's squad making the trip to Europe in August. Is this an advantage or disadvantage to their chances in '08. Burn out, injuries, ect...

hopefan

Well the way I see it, they'll spend all their Parent's money in Europe, and will come back to campus flat broke  -  no money for partying  - so they'll have to spend all their time in Sept/Oct studying and playing ball  -  which will have them super prepared for the season....and FC, these are D3 kids playin hoops cause they love it - no such thing as burnout!!

Hey, I grew 3 inches in college and if anyone's ever seen my frame, you wouldn't accuse me of using HGH, that's for sure!.

As for EC's recruits, I'm guessing a few fell trough the cracks during the coaching change. I've heard a few names, but I haven't been given a list of names that will be for sure coming. Coach Wilde has had a few guys on campus lately, so several, perhaps most, of Eureka's 2007-08 recruiting class will likely be late additions. I know I didn't decide on a college until about this time of my senior year, but I was hardly a star basketball player either  ;).

My view on FU's recruiting class is this. I think we will all agree that after graduations FU has the most talented first five. The recruiting concerns were depth. Riba will give us 6-8 solid minutes a game. The kid from SLUH will see the floor. And, there are three guys competing for time at the point.

You don't need kids to just come and not be able to play. Yes, maybe after a solid JV year some players can step up. FU does not have a graduation concern till a couple of years down the road. Numbers are not a problem with any of our sports, so it's a matter of getting a full compliment of role players.

Job done.

FYI   -  had a nice chat with Wash U Coach Mark Edwards and wrote up what I learned of his recruiting class in the UAA room in Multiregion area

Hopefan went from Saints red and gray to Wash U. "Red Alert". He's a front runner.

Should have heard some news from Mac Attack by now shouldn't we?

hopefan

I checked the Mac site this past weekend - lots of talk about the new president, but no indication regarding AD or Basketball Coach.  Also noted that our hero Athletic Department secretary whom I was teasing Mac Attack about may have also bailed out - that position shows as open too.....

Change can be challenging. I really do think Mac will recover well under new leadership. I know nothing about the former president, but he may not have been the right person at the right time. The average tenure for a president at Mac is 11 years, which says to me it is an institution with a lot of stability. If that has been compromised over the past 10 years, it can certainly be corrected in short order with the right leadership. We want quality institutions in the SLIAC, so I am pulling for Mac to prosper in all aspects of campus life.
