Greek Tragedy

If I saw Point shoot 48% from the field, 42% from 3 and hit 14/15 FTs and out rebound their opponent, I'd chalk that up as a nice win.

However, they had 12 turnovers and let their opponent shoot 52%. Apparently, that was the difference.

River Falls 70 Stevens Point 69
La Crosse 86 Stout 78
Oshkosh 84 Eau Claire 75
Whitewater 66 Platteville 51

Oshkosh 7-4
Platteville 6-5
Stout 4-7
Eau Claire 3-8
River Falls 3-8

Point drops from 13 to 17 but retains the Pool A spot sandwiched between Pool C 4 and 5.

La Crosse actually drops a spot to 21 and goes from Pool C7 to Pool C8, probably due to results around them.

Whitewater and Platteville essentially swap spots with Platteville going from 25/Pool C11 to 33/Pool C18 and Whitewater rising from 34/Pool C19 to 25/Pool C11.

Oshkosh raises from 31/Pool C16 to 27/Pool C13.

That Point loss was excruciatingly painful.

When Heather left the casita this morning for work, she asked me if I thought Uttech might have defended that inbound better. I told her I would ask the board but that some of you would be salty about the question. Told her I'd tell her what you all thought when she stops back at noon.  ;D

Is this a serious question?  I certainly can't tell based on all these scenarios that you bring to this forum.  You have a 6'4"/6'5" guy with long arms and can jump out the gym guarding the inbound...and lets switch it for a guy who is 6'1" and isn't a leaper by any stretch of the imagination.  Your obsession with Uttech is a little weird.

This forum has gotten ridiculous and less and less about basketball.  Have fun learning about "Heather."

Player guarding the inbound mistake. Number one rule. Especially wit 3. sec on clock. Protect the middle pass. Put yourself in position to keep pass out of middle. Great play by UWRF, poor def by SP. Better now than in playoffs I guess.

Platteville: 51
WARHAWKS: 66

The WARHAWKS got the first basket and aside of two ties, 11-11 and 14-14 early in the first half, held a lead for the entire game. After the 14-14 tie the WARHAWKS finished the half on a 15-4 run and held an 11 point half time lead 29-18. The WARHAWKS held the Pioneers to 28% from the floor including just 1 of 10 three point attempts in the half.  Platteville shot much better in the second half but so did the WARHAWKS.  The Pioneers managed to pull within 8 points with 15:38 remaining but a three pointer by Rashad Rogers pushed the WARHAWKS lead back into double digits where it remained for the rest of the game.  Turnovers and the points scored off them were significant in the outcome. Pioneers: 15 TO, 22 WW points : WARHAWKS: 8 TO, 7 UWP points.

Point deserved to lose tonight.  When you decide not to show up until about 2 minutes left in the first half, you deserve to lose.  When you get beat to loose balls repeatedly all game long, you deserve to lose.  They have everything to play for and you can't lose to the last place team in the league.

Point lost the conference title tonight because they aren't going 3-0 against Whitewater, La Crosse and Oshkosh.  I think all 3 of those teams are playing better than Point is right now.

Side note, why in the heck is Isaiah Moore never leaving the bench?  He can give you solid minutes and some length on the wing.  That makes zero sense to me.

Tom,
I would not agree the Pointers didn't show up.  Problem was all the open looks they got in the first half clanked and allowed RF to get a lead.  If Point makes any kind of percentage in the start of the game they have a lead and this doesn't happen.
I will admit winning the league outright will be tough because you have the three teams tied with you all yet to play.  Haven't beaten LC since 2018.  Maybe the easiest schedule left belongs to WW with games at EC and home against River plus at Point.

I believe Point (minus last nights shooting) is playing great.  Don't forget they lost their all conf post and are dealing undersized.

Regarding Moore, don't have an answer.  Great athlete and great person.  Seems to make a mistake at the wrong time each time he gets on the floor.  Hope he gets more time down the stretch.

Strap in, it's going to be exciting.

Interesting about Moore. He had his best game against River Falls at home. Played 19 minutes, 6 points and 6 rebounds. He had a stretch there where he played double digit minutes in four of five games and now he's disappeared. He did follow that up with 7 pts and 3 rebs but was only 2-10 from the field and had 3 TOs and 4 fouls in 17 minutes. That one seemed a little sloppy. No idea. I'm not the coach.

Easiest schedule left is obviously Platteville. They have the three team below them in the standings and two at home. While the top four currently tied are playing each other, Platteville does not.

All teams have been inconsistent, but especially Platteville. If they can escape 3-0 that probably is good enough for a home game in the tournament. All still in front of the Pioneers.

Kirbmania

Agree Platteville does appear to have easiest schedule left but they have been playing the worst of the contending teams.  They are a completely different team on the road...struggling to find offense and poor defense, losing their last 4 on the road all by double digits.  They play better at home so we'll see if they can keep that up, but not much hope for that win at EC.
Point seems to find ways to lose while WW seems to find ways to win.  Lacrosse is on a roll and should keep rolling to the conference championship....IMO.  It's been a wild season in the WIAC so anything can happen over the next week and a half.  Enjoy watching the madness unfold!
