After a tight first half which saw the WARHAWKS head to the locker room with a 27-26 lead the offense got going in the second half for an easy 74-58 win over Ripon Friday night.  Led by Brock Marino's 16 points four WARHAWKS scored in double figures.

Platteville wins their opener over Nebraska Wesleyan 78-62. Max Love led the Pioneers with 25 points. Platteville has to replace Pearson, Probst and Olson from last years team. It looks like Love, Lewis and Wieczorek are ready to step in. Hettinger and Fuhremann played well again. I saw something new this year for a few minutes they had both Hettinger and Fuhremann on the court at the same time. Platteville has some newcomers that played well this afternoon. Lucas Rameker who played some last year had a good game Max Lucy and freshman Kaden McKenzie played meaningful minutes.

6'6" McHenry(IL) F, Blake Renfro, has committed to play basketball at Platteville.

Falcons lose to  Carleton 81-76 despite not having services of Wangulu, their leading scorer, out with a sprained ankle.RF started 2 freshmen and were led by Leifker with 17, Thompson with 15 and Postel with 18. RF shot 49%, Knights 46% but also with 10/27 threes @37%. Engelberg and Drake led Knights with 32, 24 respectively.

Point gets the road win in Minnesota over St. Olaf, 74-63. Point was down 17-16 with just under 9 minutes to go and finished the half outscoring the hosts 22-12 to take a 38-29 lead.

They kept the Ole's at arms' length in the 2nd half to get the road win.

The usual suspects lead the way. Krohn with 16, Baumgartner with 15 and Butler with 14. Carter Combs lead the team with 7 boards. Isaiah Moore came off the bench to play 28 minutes, while Grant Manz had 6 pts and 5 rebs in just 12 minutes.

Point hosts Edgewood Saturday.

Platteville loses to Coe 71-68. Coe led most of the game but the largest lead was 6 points. Coe kept making shots when PLatteville tied or took a small lead. About half way through the 2nd half Platteville discovered that Coe couldn't stop Joey Fuhremann so they kept feeding him the ball but it was to little to late. Bristol Lewis led Platteville with 21 points followed by Fuhremann with 16. Platteville plays Carroll tomorrow.

I listened to the broadcast from Bloomington of Oshkosh vs. Maryville. Oshkosh won; the announcers seemed to see that as an upset.  Why is that?

If you watched, what do you think about the way Oshkosh pressed and switched lines quite often?

How do they modify this approach when they get their top scorer Metcalf-Grassman back?  I'd let him heal until WIAC time.

WIAC is going to be another tough slug.

Maryville is ranked.  Oshkosh isn't.  I suspect that's why.

Point came from 20 down in the 1st half to rally for an unlikely 86-75 victory in their home opener.

The Pointers, again, had one of their patented cold spells, going 5+ minutes without a point. The visitors went on a 16-0 run at 18-15 before Point scored again and found themselves down 39-19 at the 5:20 mark. At one point, Edgewood was shooting 72% while Point was shooting 26%. The hosts were able to cut it to 45-34 at the break.

It took Stevens Point nearly 10 minutes to finally knot it up at 62 a piece. It was close for the next 5 minutes until Butler hit a three to put them up by 7. After Isaiah Moore put them up by 7 points again, Edgewood would get no closer the rest of the way.

Josiah Butler and Cal Krohn again lead the pointers with 26 and 15, respectively. Both Seth Miron and Isaiah Moore had 11 points and seven rebounds.

Stevens Point is off until next weekend when they host the pre Thanksgiving tournament. Ripon vs Millikin and Point vs Bethany Lutheran. Winners on Saturday.
