I see Stout at Calvin and soon (12/6) there is an Oshkosh at Calvin game.  Is making the long bus ride to Calvin a worthwhile exercise in NPI or is it just an opponent to fill in the schedule?  Thoughts?

Greek Tragedy

Calvin played at Oshkosh last year. Actually played Oshkosh twice, the other a neutral court game. I'm guessing it's the back end of a home and home agreement.

I recall that, Oshkosh won both before losing their lead scorer who apparently will return soon.  Calvin has some big AA guy who is a stud but was injured last year as well. They have a wonderful facility over there in Tulip land, my sister considered going to school there and at Hope.  She ended up in Platteville.

Chicken farm deal closes in a few weeks, I'll be able to see some of you at Point games now that my second shift responsibilities will end while my dad farts through silk with the proceeds. I'll get enough coin to buy an end zone beer pass and drive a new F-150, the rest is to be seen.

I'm sure it wasn't intentional, but this is a pretty great flex.  Just to put it in context, Jalen Overway is a Jack Flynn level post presence for Calvin.  They haven't quite figured out how this group is going to play around him, but he's been consistently great so far this year, coming off a major injury.

Jack was a hell of a player according to Google. I was 19 when they won the 2019 NCAA event and was not in tune with the Pointers or the WIAC back then.

Probably more like Levi Borchert. He basically averaged a double double his whole career. Would have had better career numbers if not for the 7-game COVID year. 2020-2023. Flynn is a good comparison, height-wise.

He doesn't play like Borchert, though.  That's more what I was thinking.  You don't see a ton of really big, back to the basket guys at our level.

Platteville wins  over North Central 66-60 in OT. Bristol Lewis leads Platteville with 13 points. Platteville's inside game went along way to the win.

Is Platteville really going to be good?  They lost a few guys (I assume to graduation) who seemed to suffer from Gunnerhea until the NCAA tourney when they seemed to go quiet. Better than Point, though, so I apologize for being critical.

Kirbmania

Platteville is still trying to figure out who they are without Pearson, Probst and Olson.  I think they will have a ton of close games in conference, not sure how many they will close out as they haven't found their go-to guy yet.  Lewis is trying to be that guy but has struggled in clutch late game moments so far.  Love appears the same as he was last year....has a big game then disappears for multiple games.  Fuhremann has picked up scoring some and could be a nice scoring boost for them.  Hettinger has not taken that next step yet.  Depth is not as strong as it was in years past as most reserves have little to no previous experience.  The conference battle seems to be for second place as LaCrosse has started very strong this season and looks very solid.  Looking forward to an exciting WIAC season!

badgerwarhawk

The WARHAWKS hit 7 of 13 three pointers and shot 50% overall from the floor to open up a comfortable 43-28 half time lead over Aurora.  The lead grew to a high of 22 points in the first ten minutes of the second half but then the WARHAWKS went cold and over the next eight minutes Aurora cut the lead to 5 points 75-70 before the WARHAWKS made 7 of 8 free throws down the stretch to preserve the 82-73 victory. Collin Madsen led the way with 24 points.

You might be right but I bet there are young and hungry teams around the WIAC who relish the thought to prove you wrong. That's what makes this all worthwhile.  With my newfound free time I intend to go all over the WIAC in my new F-150, following the Pointers, but also a few others worthy of attention.

Just go to every d3 gym in Wisconsin like I did...or at least every WIAC gym.

Point wins, unimpressively, 78-67 over Bethany Lutheran. They play Millikin tomorrow.

Broadcast said Isaiah Moore, who has been pretty good off the bench, will be out for awhile with a knee injury. Tough blow. He was solid defensively and on the boards.
