The game between the WARHAWKS and Lawrence was close with seven lead changes and tie in the first 12 minutes before the WARHAWKS achieved a double digit lead and finished the half with a 10-3 run pushing the score to 47-27 at the buzzer. Lawrence made a run to start the second half and cut the lead to 12 points at the 15 minute mark before the WARHAWKS responded increasing their lead to a high 32 points before ending the game 88-58. Collin Madson went 12-15 from the floor, including 5 three pointers, to lead all scorers with 33 points.  Jake Quast led the WARHAWKS rebounding with 8.  Madson added 7 rebounds and a pair of steals to his stat line.

The chicken farm sale closed yesterday.  I'll be seeing you all at Quandt as well as at other WIAC gyms throughout the new year.

The WARHAWKS 7-1 built a comfortable lead and then held on down the stretch to defeat Carroll 64-60 last night.  The WARHAWKS kept it close but trailed for the majority of the first half.  A 9-1 run over the last two minutes however gave the WARHAWKS a 36-28 lead at half.  That lead reached double digits around 11 minutes and a high of 17 five minutes later. At that point Carroll got hot and got to the free throw line repeatedly. The WARHAWKS shot poorly and turned the ball over multiple times until Carroll cut the lead to 4 with 1:43 remaining. But a layup by Jake Quast and pair of free throws from Issac Vergas kept the WARHAWKS in the lead and secured the win.  Collin Madson was good for 22 points. Quast finished with 10 and led the team with 7 rebounds. As a team the WARHAWKS pulled down 20 offensive rebounds.

Greek Tragedy

Real tough loss for Platteville at Hope. They had a big win over Carthage, but couldn't continue the momentum in Hope.

Greek Tragedy

You could say Stevens Point has a real chance to make an impression this weekend. They take on Hardin-Simmons on Saturday and then battle the host Trinity (TX) on Sunday. The Cowboys are just 7-5 but were a Sweet 16 team last year and are favored to win the ASC this year. The Tigers are 7-2 and are in the top 15 of the early NPI rankings.

On the other hand, I thought Point was primed to have a great season last year when the knocked off Trine, who was #1 at the time, topping perennial power CNU and losing by one to RMC. However, an inconsistent conference campaign prevented them from making the NCAAs.

I was wondering what the SOS was for UW-Eau Claire opponents so far relative to other WIAC teams.  Doesn't look very strong.

Thanks that supports my sniff that they've been playing cupcakes compared to LaCrosse, Oshkosh and Point.

Greek Tragedy

Point really hasn't played anyone either. You could argue MSOE but that was without their stud, Mason Dopirak...and North Park is becoming someone to watch.

Now that the farm is sold, I have so much time to watch hoops, but Quandt may not be a happy place this year I fear. Maybe Berg Gym will be better.

Greek Tragedy

Whitewater got a nice win at Hope tonight, 95-92. Madson with 20 and 11. Verges with 19-10. Hope recently beat Platteville.
