Eagles lead Oshkosh 52 to 38 at the half on a spirited contest. Good job by the enthusiastic broadcaster on the video feed.

Point takes down WW but looks to be at huge cost, Krohn went down early and it looked bad.  He couldn't put weight on his leg and was helped off the floor.  He was on crutches on the sideline.

Side note, it looks like Tyshawn Teague-Johnson has some animosity towards his former teammates as he got T'ed up talking trash after blocking a shot.

Wow. Oshkosh wins 121 to 115 in a marathon OT contest lasting more than two and a half hours. Little defense, lousy FT shooting, but everything that is great about WIAC hoops. Good crowd, great atmosphere and a bunch of guys going all out for the love of the game. I will be there when the Titans come to La Crosse.

I was at Kachel for the Point win and went to my new truck after to watch the end of the LaCrosse at Oshkosh game.  Wild game, you should all go watch it on the streaming network, but let's just say the so-called Gimmicks never said die after being down 19 to the highly ranked Eagles.  Sam Grieger should be somewhere else (Doug Gottlieb watching?) Coach Lewis is a gutsy, intelligent guy for going to a system that allows more of his talent to play.

Gimmicks visit Quandt on Saturday.  I hope Dernbach is working OT to figure this Oshkosh crew out, it's scary.

Greek Tragedy

Crazy night in the WIAC. Point upsets Whitewater on the road, sans Krohn for all but 4 minutes. Oshkosh shocked La Crosse at Kolf. Platteville hammers Eau Claire by 33! Stout takes care of business at home.

Per source it's an ACL tear for Cal Krohn. Seeing the doctors today to confirm.

Platteville had by far their best game of this season.  They had their best defensive effort, they only missed one FT out of 14 attempts and had very balanced scoring with 6 players in double figures.  If they could consistently play like this they could compete for the WIAC crown.  However, based on their non-conference performances that seems pretty unlikely.  It was encouraging to see them play to their potential.
Sorry to hear about the Cal Krohn injury, hate to see this happen to these young kids and the effect it can have on their teams.  Hopefully the MRI will reveal a less serious injury.
WIAC is off to a wild start, excited for more can't miss action over the next two months!

Maybe he should work on his FT shooting a little.

I liked him when he was on the floor for Point and definitely will be missed, but we moved on.

Greek Tragedy

In the first 4 minutes of the game, Whitewater came out hot and built a quick 10 point lead, 12-2. After a WW miss, Miron tried a long pass to Crohn near the basket. It looks like he just landed awkwardly and that finished his season. I don't think he landed on anyone. It's obviously too late in the season for any medical redshirt.

Instead of doom and gloom with the loss of their best post player, Point went on a 13-2 run and briefly took a 15-14 lead. The rest of the half went back and forth and finished with the hosts leading 35-34. The lead could've been much bigger but Whitewater went just 13-25 from the line while Point was 6-8.

Point hit a 3 to start the 2nd half and basically held a one possession lead for the first 8 minutes or so. Whitewater took a brief lead at 47-45 with 12 minutes left. However, it was all Point after that has they went on a little run and held Whitewater at arms length the rest of the way, holding a 2 to 4 possession game until the final buzzer.

Josh Bocher filled in admirably and will probably have to do so the rest of the season. He lead the Pointer attack with 25 and added 4 rebounds. Butler had 18 and 5. Miron continued his great all-around play with 13 pts, 5 rebs and 8 assists. Baumgartner chipped in with 13 and 4.

Whitewater was lead by Luke Bara's 27, while Brock Marino had 15 and 11. Collin Madison was held to 9 and 5.

Point hosts Oshkosh, who shocked La Crosse and Whitewater heads to River Falls looking for their 1st conference victory.

The WARHAWKS miss 17 of 39 free throws, lose by 7, and that was the game.

2 games in.

1. Lax- Tough. Not too deep but the best player who can carry. What a game last night. 47!
2. UW-Osh Gimmick offense working. Scoring lots of points. wore out Lax.
3. UW P- looked tough last night. Fundamentals, solid D. EC didn't look prepared for the old swing o.
4. UWSP- tough loss hearing about Krohn. Wish him the best.
5. UWw- Make some ft's. they probably beat SP. But you have to make ft's.
6. UWEC- Still could move up. But ...
7. UWstout
8. UWRF
I thought the league champ would have 3 losses this year. So 1-6,  maybe 5 is certainly up for top.

Big game this Saturday as 2-0 Oshkosh travels to 2-0 Stevens Point. Almost seems impossible, but UW-Oshkosh has won seven games in a row at the Quandt Fieldhouse. UW-Stevens Point last won two in 2018 at Qunadt, both the regular season and conference tournament.

It sure feels that way.....they usually shoot well and the Pointers seem underwhelming for this game. I recall going to a game in Semling's last season where Oshkosh was up like 42-10 late in the first half. They were good but this wasn't their best team.

Sometimes the hangover won't go away.

Wow water damage at new Sonnentag, so Eau Claire and Stout men's game is moved to Stout tomorrow.

Now at doubleheader at Eau Claire January 28.

Stout and Eau Claire men now have some major road stretches and homestands in their schedule.
