It's been kind of cold down here so beach dates require some careful planning. Blankets, fires, etc. keep us closer. She wants to watch the Pointers with me Saturday but seems to also have taken a shine to Stout's Uttech, since he was the center of the controversy earlier this week. So we may need to double up on the stream.

I hope the Pointers learned something from the Platteville film vs the Gimmicks, who looked pretty good to me, and rested. Platteville plays the Gard way and the outside shooting is the delta.

I don't miss the chickens. and she looks like a young Blake Lively, to answer the question.

Ugh, tough loss for the Dawgs. Point couldn't hold a 40-34 HT lead. Blistering 1st half, shooting 55% while Platteville shot almost 54%. Completely different story as Point scored just 10 points in the first 17 minutes of the 2nd half. They looked dead in the water, at 59-50, with just over 2 1/2 minutes to go. To their credit, they fought back and made it 61-59 with less than a minute to go. Platteville missed 2 FTs with 24 seconds to go. Point had a chance to tie or take the lead but a Butler turnover finished them off as Platteville hit both FTs to seal the victory, even though Combs hit a meaningless bucket at the end. Miron had 25 and Combs was the only other Pointer in double-figures with 10. Butler had a real bad night, going 2-11 (1-7 from 3) for just 5 points, never getting to the line.

Whitewater took care of business, blowing out Stout 72-54.

La Crosse continues their conference free-fall, dropping their matchup with Eau Claire, 77-74.

Oshkosh and River Falls in a close one so far, 7 minutes left in the 1st half.

The way things are going, the WIAC will be lucky to get 2 teams in, let alone 3 or 4 as mentioned previously.

Yet another loss for the disappointing Eagles at EC. I wish someone could explain what has happened.

High of 76 today in Naples. Not exactly crushing it but acceptable. After the beach, we watched the Point stream. Heather asked me if AJ Uttech would have helped the Pointers today. I told her its complicated but they were getting smoked anyway.....then they made a late run. She also focused her comments on Baumgartner's porn mustache, I guess it's alright.

Wow this league is sure a mess.

Unfortunately Greek, Oshkosh handled business against River Falls and it wasn't that much of a game in the second half. Oshkosh tied with Platteville at 4-1.

Not a big deal. I didn't think River Falls would pull it out.

Here are the NPI numbers after last night's games. These numbers will change before Wednesday's slate even though the WIAC teams won't play until then.

Oshkosh jumps to the front of the line to the Pool A slot by moving from #14 to #12

Point gets the Pool C3 slot, dropping from #11 to #15

Platteville moves from #22 and Pool C10 to #19 and Pool C5

Whitewater goes from #35 and Pool C20 to #33 and Pool C17

La Crosse drops from #27 and Pool C13 to # 36 and Pool C20

Eau Claire creeps up from #50 and Pool C27 to #40 and Pool C 23.

Brock Marino's put back in the paint opened the scoring giving the WARHAWKS a lead that they would hold for the rest of the game. the lead would reach a first half high of twelve, 32-20, with two minutes remaining when Stout finished on a 7-2 run. The WARHAWK lead would be in double figures for most of the second half. Stout closed to 10 a couple times in the first ten minutes or so. But that was as close as it got. The WARHAWKS outrebounded the Blue Devils 41-27, including 18 offensive rebounds, leading to a 20-10 advantage in second chance points. Plus a 10-18 difference in turnovers led to a 20-10 advantage off of them. Marino finished with a double-double 14/13. Collin Madson:13, Richie Warren:12 and Issac Vergas:10 scored in double figures.

Was able to watch the 1st half of the Platteville vs Stevens Point game. I seemed like Point could do no wrong. They were shooting the ball well creating turnovers and getting points off of those turnovers. They had a double digit lead until right before halftime when PLatteville closed it to 6 points. Point had a 40-34 lead at halftime Seth Miron had 19 of Stevens Point's 40 points. Did not get to watch the 2nd half but was pleasantly suprised at the outcome. After allowing 40 points in the 1st half PLatteville held them to 21 in the 2nd half. Platteville has opened the WIAC season with home wins over Eau Claire, LaCrosse and Point which were all ranked at the time. The have beaten Stout and lost to Oshkosh on the road. Platteville hosts Whitewater Wednesday then they will have to play at EC, LaX and Point in the 2nd half of conference play.

I think according to the old standards with teams being ranked by region, your thinking would be correct. But with the new standards of the NPI and the WIAC having a super-charged SOS across the board, 3 teams are getting in, pretty easily I'd like to think.

Now which 3 teams survive the gauntlet I am not sure.

Oshkosh holds the Pool A spot. Stevens Point, Platteville, Whitewater, La Crosse and Eau Claire hold the 4, 6, 16, 20 and 22 Pool C bids.

Introducing WIAC basketball to Heather has created a monster. She is not as interested in the wins and losses as the characters.

Besides Stout AJ Uttech who looks like a dangerous scoring threat, her favorites are UWSP Logan Baumgartner's porn mustache and (may have been) UWO Matt Imig's hairdo, as it looked like he cut it this week; maybe job interview time? Also the white blonde UWL player whose name escapes me, looks like a Cali beach bum. Her favorite name is Oskar Kangas from UWO.

It is hard to keep jumping from stream to stream but it makes her happy and that is my goal.

Seems to me since Heather came on the scene the Pointers have gone in the wrong direction. Do you need to take a closer look at this relationship? Just wondering. You might not be welcomed back to the Quandt if this keeps up:)

As you may have surmised, I really don't think the Pointers are the favorites in the WIAC. Oshkosh played 7 bad minutes in H2 of their opening game...they lost, Point was the beneficiary. Otherwise they've been rolling. Point needs to find some better options that one-on-one Butler and Miron to be top of the league.

As for Heather, she is a Southwest FL native and works for her dad's office products business. I met her when she helped design Dad's new home office equipment set up here. She has some flex in her schedule and has been spending some afternoons and evenings here. Mom and Dad left on a cruise yesterday so I am optimistic she may stay for a few extra days this week. Loves sports and has a quiet hotness.

As for tomorrow's games, we will watch whatever she wants on WIAC Network. I am hopeful 3 or 4 teams can make the NCAA, we will attend tourney games (I suspect) but will stay here for the next 6 weeks as there is no requirements for me at the chicken farm as the new owners are fully operational.

Has anyone in the Point area seen the Marshfield boys basketball team play? They looked good early in the year.

Record-wise, Point has the easiest week at home to 1-4 River Falls before traveling to 1-4 La Crosse. But, this is the WIAC and nothing comes easy, especially for the Pointers.

League leaders Oshkosh head up to Eau Claire while Whitewater heads west to take on arch rival Platteville. La Crosse heads north to Stout.
