Quote from: Greek Tragedy on February 15, 2026, 08:08:51 AMI still can't believe it'd been over 8 years since Stevens Point last beat La Crosse. Great win for the Pointers. It really gets the bad taste out of the mouth from Wednesday's clunker. Two big games to go.

Point looked good.  Some of the vets seem to be okay playing tons of minutes. Hope the tires aren't going bald.

With one week to go La Crosse's Sam Grieger should be a run away for Player of the Year. And if that's confirmed he would attempt to become to third in a row to win back to back next year, following Levi Borchert and Logan Pearson's back to back wins.

I have Stout's Wesley Mboga currently in the lead for Newcomer of the year. But, Oshkosh's Aiden Hawkinson has been climbing and I would say he's second choice right now and with two big games he could still win it. Oshkosh's Oskar Kangas farther back third right now I'd say.

UWEC is out of it.

Very nervous that Whitewater will defeat Point.  Title up in smoke.

Here's today's NPI rankings. Point is 15th, La Crosse is 20th overall. It'll be interesting if Point can maintain a Top 16 ranking and if La Crosse can climb into that grouping. In theory, the Top 16 should host opening weekend quads for the 1st 2 rounds. If the top 8 survive opening weekend, they'll probably host a single round the following weekend with the winners heading to Fort Wayne for the Elite 8 and Final Four. Then it's a long 2 week wait for the Final in Indianapolis.

I lack confidence in Point to stay in the top 16 with tonight's game with Whitewater and Saturday game at Oshkosh. It's possible that Whitewater and Oshkosh could set the table with two wins this week, although Titans, without Brandon Beck, will be tough. Good test of the "both men and women" can host if Oshkosh wins twice.

Not an issue at Point, as unfortunately the Lady Dawgs were dogs this year.

Greek Tragedy

Oshkosh men and women can't host the same weekend. I believe the men have rights first this year, but Oshkosh men probably aren't good enough to host and, as good as the women are, they'd probably host over the men anyway.

Not true on limitations.

You might be right on whether they are both Top 16 but this week will make that determination. Whitewater could have the same issue.

The committee chairs have said they're exploring the idea of one school potentially hosting a WBB sectional final and a MBB sweet sixteen game on the same day (March 14th).

Nothing is set in stone and, honestly, very few schools are likely to be in a position to even need it.  For the Oshkosh men, it would mean not only winning their two games, but likely having two upsets on the other side of the bracket.

Whitewater might be in a better place, but that would almost certainly require the Oshkosh women to lose, since, due to geography, all the WIAC women's teams are likely to be in the same quadrant for second weekend.

I could see IWU coming into play strictly for geographic reasons and perhaps NYU if there are some men's upsets along the east coast.

I like that they're discussing it, but it seems unlikely to be needed this year.

Peyton Powers 6'2 G from Columbus committed to UW-Oshkosh for basketball AND football.

Point forgets there's 2 halves in a game and forgets to show up the last 15 minutes of the game. Another egg laid. No conference championship for the Pointers again. Tough finish at Oshkosh this weekend. I wonder what Point team will show up this weekend.

Eagles bounce back from wretched effort at Quandt to handle Oshkosh by 19. WW in the driver's seat.

And just like that Whiteater emerges from the pack and is just a home win against River Falls from the outright conference title.

Lost their first two in conference, both at home, and now the clear favorite to the win the conference. Whitewater has won five on the road. That's how you win a conference. Road wins.

Raise your hand if you thought Whitewater was going to win the league.

Going into tonight's games:

Point #15 AQ (between At-large 4/5)
La Crosse #21 At-large 7
Whitewater #23 At-large 9
Oshkosh #27 At-large 12
Platteville #33 At-large 17

Probably be a really tight group of Point, La Crosse and Whitewater (obviously, Whitewater will be the AQ tomorrow).

Oshkosh at Platteville might flip. Platteville played Eau Claire, so may not make much headway there.
