Quote from: Greek Tragedy on March 02, 2026, 02:38:06 PMDon't know much about UMHB. The common opponent is Trinity TX. They lost to them twice and we beat Trinity TX in their tournament down there. So there's that, I guess. If Point wins, they'll probably play Gustavus Adolphus. They beat Platteville by 15.

Trinity plays mostly zone, press a lot.  One of the best defenders in the country in Zach Fenn.  Steal machine.  Make sure the ball handlers are ready.  Trinity's big guys is pretty good, too - not a superstar, but he can definitely hand with the WIAC boys.

Greek Tragedy

Well, Point doesn't have any big guys with Krohn out for the year.

Greek Tragedy

Point and Platteville can meet in the Sweet 16 and either could meet La Crosse in Fort Wayne.

As we know, the men got 4 teams in with Oshkosh At-large 24.

The women got 5 teams in with River Falls being At-large 15 at just 16-11.

Quote from: PauldingLightUP on February 24, 2025, 10:00:20 PMEau Claire just kept Oshkosh at arm's length to win by 10 66-56. While it still in reach at 6 LaChapell and Thomas missed front ends of one and one's and that was pretty much it.

LaChapell's last free throw of the season was a miss and finishes 85/89 on the season at 95.5%. That leads the NCAA currently. Should lead Division III at the end of the season, but some Division I guys could catch him if they play enough and make enough.

Joey LaChapell went 86/94 at line this season good for 91.49% and fifth in Division III.

8 misses this season. I'm always shocked when he misses one.

Josiah Butler 146/162 so far at 90.12% and that's seventh in Division III.

We have two really good free throwers in the WIAC.

Zach Fenn was the name that kept coming up during GLI weekend. Multiple occasions of Trinity (TX) people singing his praises completely unprompted.

Massey says a WIAC first round sweep.....I say Massey out of it's classy, it will not be a WIAC first round sweep.  I think the WIAC goes 2-2 in first round.

Greek Tragedy

1, 3, 3 and 8-point margins hardly scream a confident WIAC sweep.

Greek, since you ask, I did listen to Pointer Hoops Radio Show on podcast last night.

It was the usual word salad of nothingness from Kent Dernbach. Nothing of value. It was his usual isms and catch phrases that he repeats over and over again.

However, I was rather impressed with the professionalism and insightfulness from Eddie Goldston. He was very well spoken and actually provided insights into the program. That sounded almost like a job interview as if he was starting his own program. For early 30s, I would hire him if a neighboring school needs a head coach.

All WIAC selections are announced. Sam Grieger of course Player of the Year.

Aiden Hawkinson and Max Raimer Co Newcomers of the year.

Raimer really came on as the year went on. But, like I said I'm a bit surprised not to see Wesley Mboga.

Biggest snub not on HM or Defensive is Carter Thomas in my opinion.

Injuries have cost Xavier Lewis and Brandon Beck a place on the team.

Thanks, Pauling. I never get a chance to listen to his shows. The life of being a husband to a needy wife. LOL. Yeah, Max came on strong. Congrats to him. Grieger was possibly the easiest choice.
