La Crosse's Sam Grieger has entered to Transfer Portal. Wow, that would be an absolutely huge loss for the Eagles and the WIAC.
Figured. Not much coming back. Not a deep team. Never figured why coach benched the butler kid in playoffs for second half. They played better with him in.

Best player on the worst team in the WVC, Brody Gilbertson of Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln, committed to UW-Stevens Point.

Article on apparent UWSP commit Brody Gilbertson (nothing on his X page). Big time scorer. Over 1,100 points in 3 years. He's 6'4", so that should help him at the next level.

Is the WIAC down??

2026
Point lost 1st round, neutral court.
Platteville lost 1st round neutral court.
Whitewater won 1st round on neutral court. Lost 2nd round at Wash U.
La Crosse won 1st 2 rounds at home, lost at Mary Washington in Sweet 16.

2025
La Crosse lost at home to Wash U in last year's Elite 8.
Platteville was bookmarked to do big things last year, but lost at home in the 2nd round to WLC, a team with their whole roster full of 5th year seniors. Still no excuse.

2024
Platteville lost in the Elite 8 at Trine in their epic meltdown, up something like 8 with less than a minute to go.

2023
Both participants, Oshkosh and Whitewater made the Elite 8, Oshkosh falling at Mount Union and Whitewater losing to Mount Union the following round in the Final Four. Whitewater was on the road the whole time. Oshkosh hosted the 1st two rounds.

2022
All 3 teams lost in the 2nd round, two at home.

2021 COVID.

2020 all 3 lost in the 2nd round, Platteville at home and Oshkosh and Eau Claire to 2nd round hosts, before the rest of the tournament got cancelled.

2019 Oshkosh won it all. They were actually on the road the 1st weekend and hosted the 2nd weekend. La Crosse and Platteville lost on neutral courts in the 1st round this year as well.

2018
Point and Platteville both made the Sweet 16 with Platteville losing at home to Nebraska Wesleyan and Point losing to Whitman, also at Platteville. Oshkosh was national runner-up, playing all their games away from home.

I went to the Elite 8 this year. Speed and athleticism is the name of the game now. The speed teams like Mary Washington and Emory had and the defense that Trinity and CNU possess are simply amazing. WIAC has some work to do.

The NESCAC, UAA and C2C each had 2 teams in the Elite 8 with IWU from the CCIW and St. Thomas from the SCAC rounding out the field.

Swampgoon reminded me Stevens Point has had some pretty good success with players from Wisconsin Rapids. Bryan Beamish turned out to be a really good Pointer. Vinny and Joe Ritchay won Natys on different Pointer runs. We got two good years out of transfer Clayton Heuer and Philip Flory was by far the best player the one year he was here, during the COVID era.

GT (aka oldschool) you are the consummate D#3 MBB guy. The only foul on your record is when you and swampgoon, (I think he was along) passed on an important Pointer game to attend an outdoor hockey game at Lambeau Field. Badger game I believe.

But that's only 1 foul. Your record otherwise is championship level.

Sorry we missed each other. Looks like on social media you said you had some issues with getting past security people. My bad -- I should have messaged you.

Thanks, BDB, for the kind words. I'm a rookie compared to some of these guys!
