^^^ That game was everything everyone hoped and expected it would be. Guilford did a really effective job guarding Miles Mallory, holding him to 2-10 from the floor and six rebounds, only one offensive. The Jackets still found a way to win. Three-point shooting was identical, both teams making 10 of 24. The Jackets made one more free throw and one more two point basket to win 59-56.

R-MC has another really tough one vs CNU on Wednesday. The rest of ODAC play will be daunting, especially the rematch at Guilford in the final regular season game.

Hasa- I have to say your Quakers came out firing on all cylinders and looked two steps faster than our Jackets in the first half! Excellent job on Miles Mallory the entire game also! We did all the things that happen when you lose at home......turned the ball over, missed one and ones late, and generally got pushed around inside for 2/3 of the game. Then we seemed to wake up and turned up the intensity just enough to pull it out! I'm not looking forward to the return trip to Greensboro.....may be a different outcome in Ragen-Brown!  Really good game yesterday Hasa- your boys deserved it as much as we did! Good teams find a way to win even when you don't play your best....we did that....but credit the Quakers for making us do that!

82, can you use your influence to get RMC to archive their videos?  I missed yesterday's game and it's frustrating not to be able to watch it today.   All other schools do it.

I didn't get to watch yesterday, but was being updated by other alums.  Sounds like we just couldn't hold a late lead.  Should be a great ODAC season.

After a fast start by HSC at home, the Jackets took over defensively and held on for a 79-67 win. Mikes Mallory with yet another Double Double and 4 players in double figures for the Jackets. Huge game at home Saturday vs Hasa's Quakers!! Gotta keep driving! I have to say I liked the old HSC announcers better than the current ones- all they seem to wanna do is gripe about the officiating! I realize the fouls looked one sided but it wasn't as bad as they made out....

Just wondering about the announcers, were they students or around college kid ages?  Most of the streams I watch with student announcers complain about officaiting a lot. But most of them don't understand the game or the rules.

In Maroons news, RC wins at home against EMU 74-61.  The game was a lot closer than the final score indicates.
No they seemed like older guys rather than students....I have listened to the old radio crew( I cant remember one guys name but the other one was Webb Watson) for YEARS- in Football as well as basketball- My old R-MC Roomate Rob Stanley, who lives in Farmville and used to do color commentary for football for the Tigers told me there was a shakeup of some sort with the radio stations and they switched announcers, and not for the better either! My absolute FAVORITE announcers, ( besides our guys Marty Wilson and Andrew Price) are the Guilford guys, who are HILARIOUS! They've got a nickname for every single player on the Guilford team and are a HOOT to listen to! They kind of remind me of the old ACC Pilot Life announcers Jim Thacker and Billy Packer from back in the day....lol They won't be doing Saturday's game because its in Ashland but you should listen if your team is playing at Guilford!

I've listened to the Guilford guys and have enjoyed them.  They try to look at both sides of things and are very positive to both teams rather than complaining about things.

Anyways yesterday my Maroons squeaked a victory out at Virginia Wesleyan 65-64.  Low scoring for both teams and no team scored a fg the final 2:28 of the game.  RC can be a good team but man we're frustrating to watch at times.  We have a very TOUGH stretch coming up on Jan 18th and 21st with games against Guilford and RMC.

HUGE GAME in the COTU tonight at 8pm!Women play first vs Lynchburg- and our women's team is coming on strong.....then the #5 CNU Captains come calling to Crenshaw!! With the students back the CRENSHAW CRAZIES WILL BE IN FULL FORCE!! CNU ALWAYS plays us tough wherever we play so it should be a slugfest! Expect a very PHYSICAL game from Josh Talbert, who can be a BRUTE inside when he puts his mind to going to the hole! The officiating will be KEY tonite- will they let them play a little physical or not? Miles Mallory played one helluva game against them last year in Newport News in a losing effort but hes not a terribly physical player- Josh and Daniel Mbangue usually handle that dirty work. Don't get me wrong, Miles is a PRESENCE  inside, hes just not a " push em around" kinda guy! Hes more of a finesse big man than anything and theres not a better shot blocker in the country! If we start raining threes early  it may be a long night for CNU but they are a very formidable opponent and both teams know each other very well and CNU can slug it out with the best in the country, also! Gonna be a GREAT game! I'm not going to Ashland tonite but will catch it on the air with Marty and Andrew!! GO JACKETS!!

I dunno how much influence I have but I can mention it to AD Jeff Burns and SID Phil Stanton. Tonite would be a great time but its an 8pm start and I live in the Hampton Roads area so I'm not going....its actually closer for me to go when its at CNU. I will, however, send one or both of them an email and inquire about it!

Appreciate the help.  I'm sure I'm not the only one that may miss a game live, but would like to review later.  Even if you attend a game, you may want to see it again later.  Most, if not all, other schools have archived video.

MACON- I looked- there is an archive of last night's game, at least on D3HOOPS in "Scores". What a great ballgame last night between two very evenly matched teams! Home court and leaders stepping up at crunch time made a HUGE difference for the Jackets! Miles Mallory , Daniel Mbangue, and Josh Talbert stepped up late and made the plays to pull it out! When Miles pinned that layup up against the backboard and ignited the crowd even more than it was late made a difference- then he goes down and calmly drains a three! Credit CNU for taking away the deep ball and forcing us to beat them inside- Mbangue, Josh Talbert, and Miles showed up in a major way on both ends , especially late. CNU is every bit as good as their ranking- hope we don't have to meet them again but if we do I hope its back in Crenshaw! Great game by two great teams!

Yes, I noticed the video today as well.  Thanks for your efforts.  It was fun to watch the Mallory block again today.  Your analysis of the game was spot on.  No one wants to play CNU in the NCAA tourney.  They have a nice team, tall on the inside and even have 6-4 guards.  Tough match-up for most teams.  RMC got the three tough wins.  Don't forget that RMC is playing two or three freshmen guards in their rotation.  Great job by those guys so far.

That was fun to watch. It would have been "funner" had we won. But as a fan of the game, that was awesome to watch. RMC has a real chance to repeat.

Maroons pulled out a good win last night 70-50.  Maroons pulled away in the second half. In other odac news yesterday:

Guilford won big at home against Lynchburg 75-59

Shenandoah gets blown out at Washington and Lee 50-82

Randolph lost in a tight one at Bridgewater 73-71

I personally think CNU may make it all the way this go around! So many things have to happen right to win it all- your guys have all the tools! I was extremely impressed with them and certainly don't want to have to face them again but think they would be a great addition to the ODAC competition wise. The only snag is that the ODAC is all private schools and CNU is a state school. You have height, speed, quickness at the guard position, and you're well coached and deep. That's all the right tools..... I wish your guys luck the rest of the season UNLESS we have to face you again! ;) ;) ;)..... Your women's team also looks pretty STOUT! I live down here and I'd certainly travel to see y'all play if we were knocked out and you were home. I was really surprised last year when they swung you out of the area- that may have helped us!!

That's one of the challenges of having both men and women in the top 5. When the NCAA playoffs come, someone has to go on the road - even if ranked #1, depending on if it is an even year or odd year.

And thanks for the kind words. It is fun watching these guys as they progress through their college years. During the halftime show on the CNU radio broadcast they interviewed former player Jason Aigner who is now a D1 GA at GW. He mentioned that at the game the other night were numerous former CNU players - McFarland, Regimbal, Daly, and a few others. It's nice to see former players showing support like that.

Macon

CNU has a nice team and will do well going forward.  But, they should do well, playing against mainly private schools (within the ODAC and DIII as a whole) where tuition and costs are twice, threefold, or maybe even quadruple. Given their size, cost advantage, and state funded facilities, CNU should be favored on the court and on the fields.  So, suggesting that CNU join the ODAC is not a good idea.
