Black Monday for the two preseason ODAC favorites last night.  With the start of the ODAC schedule on Wednesday, I think Randolph-Macon and Virginia Wesleyan will be hostile forces that will take no prisoners.  I predict an old-fashioned beatdown in Lynchburg; the game between Sydney and Wesleyan should be "intense."

The Guilford vs. Emory & Henry meeting should be an entertaining track meet.  I don't think Guilford is temperamentally capable of slowing it down and the Quakers have the speed and depth to run with the Wasps.  I look for a new ODAC record in the number of turnovers in a game.

We'll see if Roanoke is for real.  They are hosting the Emus, which are picked by the coaches to occupy the same rung on the ODAC ladder.

EMU at Roanoke - EMU, guard play on defense is key here. Gotta make Josh LaPorte beat them since he still seems to be a biut inconsistent scoring
W&L at Bridgewater - Bridgewater
Guilford at E&H - E&H, I don't think guilford has the personnel to slow down the game enough to whewre they are playing their style
H-SC at VWC - HSC, tough to pick VWC here after getting upset by Salisbury
R-MC at Lynchburg - Lynchburg. We're ready and pumped to take down a top 25 team. we know we can compete with them as we've proven before. Macon is gonna try to bounce back from a beat down by Lincoln and LC has the added motivation that it's an early must win

Saturday, December 3
VWC at Roanoke - VWC, Roanoke could be loking at another VWC upset here if they dont start playing better than they have been
Bridgewater at EMU - EMU
E&H at H-SC - HSC
Lynchburg at Guilford - Lynchburg
R-MC at W&L - RMC

Sunday, December 4
R-MC at Roanoke - RMC
VWC at W&L - VWC

How is Longwood doing so far this year?  Without looking up their record, am I correct in saying the Lancers only won one game last season in their first year of Division I play?

hasanova,
Actually, it was Longwood's 2nd year of Division I affiliation.  You're right .... despite the persistent rumor that Longwood had won a 2nd game, the Lancers ended with a 1-30 record.  I believe that they're better this year and should win a few.

stillfamily...as I said the EMU stars were just that...stars! Maybe I missed something...I thought the original conversation was about the MVP? Not that your numbers were not valid...they were...just curious why you coupled Michael/Fox into a package?

One thing your numbers do show is that it should be fun in Harrisonburg Saturday Night! Just hope the Eagles can keep up. The Royals should be huge favorites!

hasanova

Scottie - I admire your unwavering support for the Hornets!  Who would you pick if we can get Lynchburg a game at Duke on Senior night in Cameron Indoor Stadium?  :)

Well, most teams take their lumps in those first few seasons after moving up.  Wasn't one of their games at Illinois?  That's a tough road game for anyone - just ask Wake Forest!

While the Yellowjacket loss wasn't overly surprising -- Lincoln's on a roll right now -- the margin was.

Warren:

While I'm extremely happy for the win, I was also surprised with the margin 23 pts.  I really thought Myrick and Wansley would neutralize each other and it would be up to the other players to determine the games outcome.  Myrick finished with 33 pts, while Wansley was held to 9 pts. (and 10 rebs.).

I hope Lincoln continies the momentum, and I'm sure the Yellow Jackets will be looking for revenge when the Lions play R-MC at home in December.

New Top 25 has been posted.  But it's based on games through Sunday, before the Monday night ODAC losses.

Randolph-Macon is #11, Virginia Wesleyan is #23, and the Tigers are #26 (and Lincoln is #31, lower than they will be in the next poll!).

I expect that, in the next poll, the Yellow Jackets will fall quite a bit, given the size of their loss to Lincoln, and they may drop out of the Top 25.  The Marlins should fall out of the Top 25, even if they beat the Tigers and Maroons this week.  The Tigers will need to beat both the Marlins and Wasps to move into the Top 25.  And, if Roanoke gets two more wins and goes to 7-0, I would think they would start getting some votes.

was stillfamily coupling fox and michael or maupin and michael?  (i assumed it was maupin) but still....when it comes to the MVP I am pretty sure it goes to one player, so in that case you can't combined those stats and try to say who came out on top.  I already put Michael's stats up.  He deserved the MVP.  (and once again...it was a Bridgewater tournament...and yes.  that should have something to do with it..but just a little bit)

Anyway....as for my "gurette"  ;D pick 'ems:
