I might get to see some of the Roanoke game before going to my side gig tonight.  Best of luck to the Maroons against the invaders from the west.  I sure hope the Tigers get their mojo back.

ODAC teams take two of three games yesterday. RMC has no trouble with Centre, starting out on a 22-3 run. The Colonels cut the deficit to eight with five minutes left in the first half, but the Jackets outscored them by 30 points the rest of the way for an 84-46 win.

H-SC downs Wilson 86-67.

In the matchup of top 25 teams, Roanoke struggles against Redlands' pressure defense and quick pace of play, losing 79-60. The Bulldogs have what I think is referred to as "length" -- players who appear lean and lanky and have long arms that seem to take up a lot of space. Plus they are quick.

The same three ODAC teams play today. RMC faces Augsburg, another team that plays pressure defense, though not as aggressively or effectively as Redlands. Roanoke & H-SC switch opponents at the H-SC Holiday Classic.

Roanoke played well for a half, but Redlands' pace and relentless pressure wore the Maroons down.  A bright spot was Grant Hamilton finding some open space for 3s around the baseline.  He had to get them off quick and did it well.  The Tigers are in for a "learning experience" this afternoon.

^^^ Yes, Roanoke's win over Guilford didn't help them as much as I thought it might. Redlands is just much better at that style of play. Guilford will probably get better at it with time.

HSC - Redlands tied at half 48 - 48.

Roanoke won easily.

83-80 HSC with 3:44 to go.
89-87 Relands with 50.5 to go HSC'S ball.

Redlands wins 91-90.  Makes winning bucket witg 6.5 secs left.  3 and tip for HSC MISS

Another 2-1 day for ODAC teams RMC cruises past Augsburg 85-49. And, as mentioned above, Roanoke gets a lopsided win over Wilson, 104-69 and H-SC loses 91-90 to Redlands in a game that was close from start to finish.

Players and coaches get a nice break. No more games until Sunday the 28th.

Merry Christmas to all.

Never good to see the Tigers take a L, but so happy to see them play well.  After seeing how Redlands handled Roanoke and how the Tigers had played recently, I thought that the Tigers would do well to stay within 20.  H-S was led by Travis Stickney who played one of the finest games I've seen from a Tiger.  He scored 30 points and did it while bringing the ball up through the Redlands pressure for 39 minutes.  His energy level and effort was almost unbelievable.  The Tigers are clearly a work in progress, but today was a cause for optimism.

Roanoke went on a remarkable 25-0 run in the first half of the Wilson game. The score went from 8-7 to 33-7 in a hurry.  Zach Rosenthal came off the bench to hit 3 of the 5 Roanoke treys in that run.

Averett falls to D1 Longwood. Shenandoah falls to D1 Radford. In the only D3 v D3 game, Bridgewater downs Medgar Evers 66-58.

Six games tomorrow, all vs D3.

Down in Atlanta, H-SC went on a 15 point first half run and kept a comfortable lead the rest of the way against #25 Maryville.  A couple late 3s for the Scots made it 63-55.  Big game against the home team Emory tomorrow.

Nice to get a top 25 win for the Tigers.  Hopefully, those 2 gamest after Thanksgiving (R-MC and EMU) were anomalies.

ODAC teams go 5-1 yesterday. Winners were Roanoke, W&L, H-SC, RMC, and Guilford.

Shots weren't falling for Misericordia in their lopsided loss to RMC. The Jackets haven't gotten rusty with a couple of long layoffs (13 days, then two games, the 9 days) but Misericordia's 14 days off, plus the travel to Ashland, appears to have taken a toll. They are a better team than the score suggests. Congrats to Coach Merkle on his 300th win in 14+ seasons as a head coach -- 234 of those wins are in his 10+ years at RMC.

From the box score, Bridgewater looks to have had a tough time making shots, including free throws (2-10) in a nine points loss.

Seven teams in action today. Yesterday's five winners, plus Averett and Shenandoah.

UMW put a hurt on VWU tonight: 89-48. Yes, you read that right: 41 point win. UMW shot 63%/47%/77%. Didn't see this coming.
