Certainly looks like Bates got hosed on that call. From the replay, it looked like there was no whistle until the Yeshiva player was on the ground.

Welp, I do think it was a foul. But just a terrible terrible end to a great season for Bates. Congrats to Yeshiva. They schedule hard and it pays off.

Man, after a great comeback by Bates, that is an absolute brutal way to end the season!! I feel for the Bobcats faithful!!

I didn't have a strong rooting interest in this game, I like both teams, but for Bates to go out like that after working so hard on both ends to tie the game up is utterly ridiculous.  One of the worst calls I've ever seen to end a game.  I watched it several times and at least from the angle on the broadcast I did not see Robinson touch him or if he did it was barely perceptible.  Zackheim was off balance grabbing the board and was going to the floor either way. If there was contact it was incidental two guys going for a loose ball.  You should never call that but certainly not in that situation.  Feel bad for Bates and for the fans who should have been treated to an OT in a great game.  Credit to Samet who was great, Bates threw a lot more at him in the second half to slow him down but he still made a few big plays.

Edit: I was able to watch a few more times.  To be fair it's hard to see from the position of the camera.  It appears he must have slightly bumped him, but Robinson was moving to the side and trying to avoid contact while both guys were jumping for a loose ball as time was expiring and it really did seem like he barely grazed him.  And to the extent there was any foul, it was called late.  There is so much contact that goes uncalled throughout a came and if that type of light bump on a loose ball play is a foul then there can be a foul on every possession.  And as a ref you need to have some situational awareness.

Also agree with el_jefe below that Bates really should have been better positioned prior to that point, it took awhile for them to figure out how to exploit their pretty clear physical advantage in this one.

Bates got screwed!

While I do think Bates got hosed at the end, let's not forget they shot just 6-21 from 3, 9-14 from the FT line and had a couple really bad turnovers in the final 2 minutes. They could have put themselves in a better spot at the end there. Maybe they could've been up by 2 instead of tied.

Shoutout to Brady Coyne. Not his best performance, but toughed it out whilst being injured. Sean O'Leary was the best all around player for the Bobcats today. He does a little bit of everything for this team. His defense on Samet in the 2nd was unreal. The bench came to play today, especially Robinson and Bianco. I feel for Kravitz. He had looks, just didn't knock them down.

Still, Bates got hosed on that last call!

Impressive showing by Samet – definitely played like a preseason All-American.

As previously mentioned, when the tournament games are close, free throws and turnovers are key stats and Yeshiva won both of those battles.

Great season for Bates and credit to the seniors for leading them to the tournament.

The play of O'Leary (SO) and Robinson (FY) is definitely something to build on for Bates, along with Pouye (JR), who at times seems like he is too unselfish.

Predictions via D3 Datacast:

Babson   75 - St. Josephs (ME) 73 – two NE teams and the winner would likely play Trinity
Amherst 66 - WPI 61

The other NESCAC teams are heavily favored, but nothing is guaranteed.

I've praised Jumbocast in the past but now I must criticize. The audio delay has been 10 seconds all year long. I'm watching catholic vs West conn and it's literally 2 possessions behind the live play. I swear to god they better figure this **** out by 6 pm. I'm going to be drinking and watching from a florida tiki bar. And I haven't even finished this post and now the audio is ahead of the live play. FIGURE IT OUT

First game - 50%. First weekend - 5%. Bates and Amherst are both better than Yeshiva and WPI and are the two toss ups to me. I think Bates playing basically a road game against Yeshiva is a challenge but they are bigger and more physical and it won't be pretty but they get by. Amherst is also better than WPI but they have had two weeks off and are not really postseason tested at all. Getting 5 teams to go 10-0 is just a massive ask

Bates lost already

Accidentally didn't hit send - oops! Looks like Gyemesi is dressed tonight

SpringSt7

Bates is on the bus ride home but former Bates AC Quinn Newton is about to pick up a HUGE win in the same gym with his Maine Farmington team against Montclair St. D3Datacast had them losing by 14.

Meanwhile Tufts leads PSU Harrisburg by 6 and Wesleyan only leads Lehman by 3 at half. Gyemesi has not seen the floor for Tufts

SpringSt7

Jarrel Okorougo is out tonight for Trinity. He twisted his ankle at the end of the game against Wesleyan, per the broadcast. Making it sound like a precaution but obviously has MASSIVE implications not just for Trinity but for Tufts and Wesleyan and the entire tournament.

Does anyone remember seeing that play?

D3BBALL

Utter disgrace at the end of bates game clearly offensive foul and joke call at end of game!!!
