The bigger question is who does Carthage start? After last weekend, I have no idea anymore of what Uncle Augie is going to do ;D
Baseball is not a game that builds character, it is a game that reveals it.

Great to see B.V. and Coe make it to NCAA Regionals! :)  I thought I saw somewhere that is was the first time two IIAC teams had made it to regionals since 1999.

I heard that three Luther players (all underclassmen) made 1st team all-IIAC while a Luther senior made 2nd team.  I wonder who they are?

1st team-?
2B Chris Reynolds
P Augie Lindmark
? (P Matt Reynolds or 3B Ryan Bahnemann)

2nd team-?
OF Joe Thompson (SS Steve Beckman was the only other senior starter)

I believe:

1st: Lindmark, C. Reynolds, and Bahnemann
2nd: Thompson

Chris Reynolds, doesn't matter which sport he's better at....he's easily Luther's best at both.

If he was going to choose a sport, I'd remind him that he can throw a baseball farther than he can throw a football.  ;D

I thought Chris had a solid year in baseball in 2010 but Schott was by far the anchor.  He had a very good year as a freshman in baseball in 2009, but I thought this was his best offensive year and he was the offensive anchor even though he was leading off.

Augie Lindmark was also a huge part of what Luther was able to do to get to 9-4 in the league at one point.  From what I could tell, he had one bad start all season (at the end).

In football, Chris Reynolds has been the most valuable offensive player and is a good dual threat QB.  I would love to see a strong supporting cast around him as a senior this fall.

LB Kyle McGivney has been pretty good in football as well! ;D

You nailed the picks for Luther.

Congrats to Watson and Stein as they both had very good seasons.  Besides B.V., lots of all-league players return next season.

Congrats to #5 B.V. for beating #2 Carthage, 8-1.  :)

#1 Coe lost to #6 Ripon, 3-2. :(

The regional seeds said it would be a 1-1 day for the IIAC, but not 1-1 as planned.

Coe and Carthage are playing an elimination game right now.

I know they weren't part of the league for very long in the grand scheme of things, but I will miss Cornell as they leave the Iowa Conference in 2012.  They had some disadvantages, but I have always respected a lot of things about the school and the history and traditions there.  Mount Vernon seems like a nice town as well.

Coe is doing well in the Iowa Conference, but I wonder how strange it will be when the two rivals aren't in the same league anymore?  I hope that they will still play each other in most sports.

Over the years that Cornell has been in the league, I have seen the Norse play Cornell quite often in football and baseball.  All Iowa Conference league games sound good to me, but over the last 15 years I have enjoyed the Luther-Central, Luther-Loras, and Luther-Cornell games from a general sense in those two sports.  Central beats Luther too often in football, but there have been some good games.  I am not counting Luther-Wartburg or Luther-Upper Iowa as those two series have a different feel for historic reasons.

I doubt it happens that often, but I would like Luther to continue to play Cornell in sports like baseball, wrestling, and football.

Carthage beat Coe today, 5-3.  Great season for Coe!  I was hoping that they were going to hit more than they did in the two games.

Great to see Luther officially listed as the 2011 IIAC Men's All-Sports Champions as the Knights had won that award too many years in a row.  Luther has won the most titles all-time, but this was the first title in a long time.

The Luther Women finished 2nd right behind Wartburg in the IIAC Women's All-Sports Championship.  I think Luther and Wartburg are tied for the most titles all time on the women's side.

Luther and Wartburg then shared the overall all-sports title as both schools finished 1st or 2nd in each race.

Congrats to B.V. as they won again today to move to 2-0 in NCAA Regionals.  This time it was a 7-1 win over host school Illinois Wesleyan.

Big day tomorrow for the Beavers!
