d3 math: 100 + 1 + 1 = 100

Go figure  :P   Gee, if I knew who was offended, I might apologize.   :-*

Tmerton, I got sniped one somewhere along the line as well! :'(

Me too. A double! WTF?

tmerton

Moving off the sniping issue, we're coming in to make the drop-off this weekend (from here on out he's gonna be John's problem 8)).  We're flying in Friday but they don't want him showing up at SJU earlier than Saturday afternoon so we're going to spend Friday night in Mps.  Figured we might as well show him North America's second largest indoor shopping mall.

So, any recommendations on where to eat in or around the Mall?  Or any recommendations on things to see/do?

janesvilleflash

I usually stay at the Marriott, right accross from the Mall. The Blue Water Grill there is very good.
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

Quote from great guy Dave Wright, the voice of the Tommies in today's Strib:

"There's nothing like a Tommie-Johnnie football game," he said, referring to the rivalry between MIAC members St. Thomas and St. John's. "I've taken people who have never been to one, and they cannot believe the intensity of the rivalry."

One of my faves is Khan's Mongolian BBQ near Portland and 494. Go through the line, fill your bowl, bring it to the guys to cook. Delish!

Oh yeah, gotta love Khan's!!!  All you can eat, too.

Today's SJU articles are all about Gags and the HOF:

From the PP (Shooter):

The presentation format includes interviews with the inductees. Look for Gagliardi, 79, who has been coaching since he was a 16-year-old senior at Trinidad Catholic High School in Colorado, to tease the audience with a retirement announcement.

"People always ask me when I'm going to retire, and I guess this is as good a time as any to announce it," Gagliardi plans to say. "So, I plan to retire in one — or two — more decades. That's all the longer I can coach."

Frank the Tank in the SC Times:

"For the first time in my life, I won't be here when the team comes in (to check out equipment) Saturday," Gagliardi said. "I've never not been there to greet the players before.

"Fortunately, I get back Sunday, so I won't miss a practice. But that's what I'm thinking about. I'm worried about replacing the guys we lost and getting our guys ready to play.

"Besides, if we don't have a great season, they're liable to throw me out of that place anyway," Gagliardi added with a smile. "I could only be in there for one year."

Following Jesq's link to the Pioneer Press, I stumbled upon the article about Torii Hunter and his glove. This is funny...

A reporter asked Twins center fielder Torii Hunter if he had a few minutes to talk as he walked by the clubhouse kitchen Wednesday afternoon.
"Hang on," he said. "I need to go throw my glove in the microwave."
Uh, OK.
After popping his black leather Rawlings glove into the microwave for 30 seconds, Hunter emerged from the kitchen to explain.
When the five-time Gold Glove winner misses a play, he nukes his glove for 30 seconds before taking the field the following day. If he commits an error, the glove gets heated for two minutes.
"That's punishment," Hunter said. "You do something bad, you go to hell."
Hunter was upset he didn't make a diving catch of Dmitri Young's line shot into the right-center gap in the second inning of the Twins' 4-2 victory over Detroit on Tuesday. The ball hit off Hunter's glove, and the slow-footed Young ended up with a triple.

He'll be reporting on his trip to the HOF induction ceremonies. Interesting sidenote: we may not be able to cal him Frank the Tank anymore, he's lost 110 lbs.  :o

If you have time you can do a couple of touristy things  - one of which is a tour of the Chain of Lakes Parks in Minneapolis.  If you're staying out by the Mall, you're less than 15 minutes away from the lakes.  If you choose this option I would add the Minnehaha Parkway segment onto your tour.  It connects you to the lakes from the Bloomington area.  For good reason this is one tourist attraction that most people see when they visit the Twin Cities.  I've enclosed a link.

The other is to do a tour of the 4/5 twin cities MIAC schools & stadiums if you have about 2-3 hours.  If you're interested I could send you directions & info via the board's messaging option.

"If anything here offends, I beg your pardon. I come in peace, I depart in gratitude." ;)

DuffMan

Oooh, the lakes.  Yeah, there's some nice "scenery" in that area, especially Lake Calhoun...or should I call it Calpoon?

I don't know whether we'll be able to get #2 son out of bed early enough, but I'd certainly be interested - thanks.

Just be sure not to miss Augsburg. Very scenic this time of year.

Perhaps a road trip to beautiful Carver County? There has to be some kind of festival going somewhere there.
