Didn't Presentation play at SJU ~10 years ago?  I'm too lazy to confirm right now.

You are correct, sir. Sept. 9, 2017 in Collegeville. Johnnies won, 49-14.

It was the game after the 98-0 dismantling of St. Scholastica.

Presentation was in D-III for a hot minute.

The Wikipedia says Presentation was D3 from 2002 to 2013, a UMAC member from 2002-2012, and then a D3 independent in 2013 before going back to NAIA.

Believe they only had football in 2011 and 2012 -- at least, those are the only years we tracked them here.

I always enjoyed our trips out to Aberdeen, we'd eat at probably one of the cheapest unlimited steak buffets in the country (aptly named Steak & Buffet), then chat with the sisters before our game.

When I attended St. Stephen's elementary in Anoka during the 60s the nuns were the Sisters of the Presentation from Aberdeen. I estimate that >50% of the teachers were nuns at that time.

No love for Glenn and Co, I see.
Give it time. Hockey was always the priority, though the multi use facility is a big surprise for everyone I've talked to.
What do you see long range for football? Pioneer League for life or lobby for admittance to the Missouri Valley Football Conference?
Speaking of changing conferences, what's the talk on other sites about the Big East? Have war chest, will travel.... Lee & Penny have built a fantastic set of businesses and the war chest runneth over...
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Pat Coleman

They keep talking about things that compare them to schools such as Marquette, so ...

Huge Title IX question about scholarship balance if anything is to happen on the football conference side. I'm ok with the PFL at least until I have an excuse and opportunity for trips to San Diego, Poughkeepsie, Charlotte, and Orlando for games. Others see it differently. I just don't see how it happens without cutting several men's sports. MVFC would be the logical step at this point but that landscape is shifting so much who knows. Lots of interesting discussion on this on non-public UST athletics channels  8-)

I don't see any value in giving the Big East stuff too much oxygen. University profile aspirations are great, but there's a lot to be done before that's something I, as a random fan/alum, need to be concerned about. And none of the comparables are an exact "we want to be Marquette." AD Esten had a nice quote in the announcement about not modeling UST after all those schools, but being uniquely UST. Obviously there are models to learn from and aspire towards in certain areas, in building a national Catholic profile.

The Big East is very protective of its elite basketball-centric identity, and the optics of adding a school that just made the jump to D1 from D3 preclude UST from consideration for at least a decade. No doubt UST's greatest asset is being situated in the MSP media market. But, even then, UST would need to show that they have a substantial share of that market, which the University of Minnesota owns around 99% of right now. Moreover, UST needs to have some major D1 success like dominating the Summit League year-in and year-out and deep national tournament runs (sweet sixteen or beyond, minimum).

I can think of a half-dozen teams right now that would be more likely Big East additions ahead of UST:
1) St. Louis University
2) Gonzaga (doesn't fit the "East" profile, but it has been openly discussed among current Big East members)
3) St. Mary's College (would probably come as a package deal if Gonzaga joined)
4) VCU
5) Davidson
6) Dayton

Agreed that UST would be at the very best, like 15 years away from being a Big East candidate.

Bartch no longer starting for the Jags?

He suffered a season-ending injury earlier this year.

I wonder if he will be able to make it back onto the Jags or another NFL roster--or if this will be the end of the road?

It seems like all too often a guy gets hurt and *poof* the next you hear they're selling commercial real estate in Edina.

Probably different when you've had a couple of years in the league as opposed to just a training camp invite, but yes, there is always that possibility.
