Quote from: art76 on November 16, 2024, 11:41:23 PMHmmmm - these two sites don't agree on who is in the tourney and who is not:

NCAA: https://stats.ncaa.org/season_divisions/18386/selection_rankings/current_rankings

datacast: https://d3datacast.com/npi/football/

I used the NCAA stats in my posts above.

I see my mistake now - Wesleyan is part of the NESCAC and they don't compete in the tourney. So John Carroll makes the cut instead.

Pamona-Pitzer would also require a flight.

So, Pat and Greg have thrown out their prognostications and have Bethel traveling to Berry in the first round. Which would be interesting from BU's new Offensive Coordinator's standpoint. It sure is going to be an interesting reveal tonight...

Yeah this is a unique twist in bracket intrigue. We aren't sweating the selections, but this will be a whole new animal. Especially what they do with flights and the odd number of island schools.

Here's to them getting creative.

Pat, do we know who is on the committee?

Quote from: DuffMan on November 16, 2024, 10:22:06 PMI'm glad to be done with this championship game crap.  Gary mentioned it in the post game--in reality, both of these teams played a playoff game today, and it was a physical battle with a number of injuries.  I hope both teams can recover and get healthy for playoffs.

Exactly...that's what is kind of silly about it. Granted the schedule could someday end up with #1 vs #2 intentional day of the season like in 2003.

I heard from a pretty reliable source that Johnnie fans are not going to like the 2025 home schedule (unless you enjoy Triple Monkey Stompouts).

In the paper Ruesse is calling the targeting penalty "questionable." I watched the webcast and had a second screen going and saw it 3-4 times. It was definitely helmet to helmet...not sure the defender launched. I normally don't support ejections like that in D3 as the officials often get them wrong on the field during live action but I didn't think the penalty call was horrible.

Sure looked like it to me, and they reviewed it at the half and upheld it.
Not saying that it was intentional or that I agree with it, but if those are the rules, you have to apply them accordingly.

If he played for a WIAC school then I would agree with you.

He lead shoulder to shoulder, but then their helmets hit too. Wasn't the crown, wasn't intentional, but by rule there was head to head contact. I was more bugged by the Wheeler TD, he looked out by a yard.

The bummer is that Devon has played about 1.5 of 8 quarters against SJU this year. Losing him forced us to go zone heavy instead of man heavy. And #1 was awesome finding the soft spots in the zone.

I really like this BU team. We've lost twice to a legit #1 seed. We had 9 turnovers and didn't have an AA corner. Saturday two of those TO's were total unforced errors on special teams with a kick into the wind playing havoc on the ball. (None of that is meant to take anything away from SJU. You made plays and limited mistakes)

More than that, they kept battling and fighting back all game long. (Saturdays matchup should help both teams from a playoff mindset/intensity standpoint). If we can limit TO's and mistakes and guys are healthy we should be able to play with anyone.

To Gary's point, it is also a war of attrition. Both SJU and BU took an extra round of body blows Saturday. Those add up. Here's to both squads staying healthy and going as deep as they can. I'd love to see an MIAC rematch, but hopefully not in rd 2. Let's do it in the semis or Stagg!

I didn't think it was intentional either...just a collision.

Agreed.  Tough draw for North Central.   ;)

I'm sure I spend 5 minutes trying to find it but wondering if anyone would care to post the link to the "selection" show here?
