Everyone has unknowns, more so than usual, but I agree losing Syverson is a huge unknown.

It's a minor slight, but it is a little surprising to see Bethel below Wartburg, who they beat in the playoffs last year. There are probably other "flips" in this pre-season poll that I just didn't see/know about. I think it is going to be an interesting season in the MIAC this year because of the complete round robin. We shall see.

NCC and Mount both replace their Stagg Bowl QB's too. Syverson was ridiculously good and will leave huge shoes to fill.

This year feels like more of a crap shoot than ever for Pre-Season Top 25. It's the first time we won't have teams with 10-15 COVID seniors since 2021. I think every fan feels like their team has an unusual amount of holes to fill. In reality, I think all of the teams do.

Yeah, I think it's probably just a matter of looking at final records and not diving deeply into team finishes. That said Wartburg was very good last year, and a great game.

2 and BBQ in each of the last three playoff appearances...all three games at home.
One semifinal and one quarterfinal appearance since 2003.
Based on last year's finish and the number of players being replaced I would rank SJU in the 12-14 range.

#5 preseason ranking makes complete sense  :o

5 is higher than where I ranked the Johnnies on my ballot but in fairness, if voters shoved everybody who lost in the 1st/2nd round of the tournament and graduated a lot of good players into the 12-14 range, we would have 15 teams ranked 12-14 and nobody ranked 5-9.

The Twitterverse believes Bartch will get the starting LG spot on the 49ers.  Let's hope that the great unwashed know what they are talking about.

(He hurt a quad while doing a weights program, so he has started with the injured group but will soon return to the main practice group.)

This got me thinking, so I checked something.

Yes, Erdmann was also really good. How about further back?

Any word on who our mystery QB will be this year?  I'm really holding out for a report from ROR on his day at the kickoff luncheon in a few weeks.
