Quote from: DuffMan on January 05, 2026, 11:19:49 AMThat was a fun game!  I got home early in Q2; going into half, I thought NCC would start pulling away in the the 2nd half.  RF turned it up to 11!  The tip and pick by 96 was fantastic--I'm pretty sure I woke my kids up with my reaction to that play.

What impressed me most was the big man holding on to the ball as the two tacklers did their darndest to rip it away from him.

You just don't expect defensive linemen--any defensive linemen--to be that agile or coordinated.  ;D

It is crazy too how one thing can totally change a game. Like if NCC doesn't have that awful turnover and goes up 14-0 right away, it kind of feels like the entire game is different and might have even been a rout. But they did cough it up and from there River Falls settled in.

I had a similar interception opportunity once, and let's just say my hands failed me.  ;)

Or if NCC scores right before half instead of the RF DB making an incredible interception.

Dlineman's dream play for sure. What a cool way for a senior to end his career.

Hands failed you?  I would blame the missing half a digit

Congrats to UWRF! Cool to see. I was a bit peeved at the announcers who said "ultimate underdog" about 150 times. Was not the case to anyone who paid attention to D3 this year. After I watched UWRF-SJU game, I came away saying that team would probably win the whole thing. I was shocked at the size and freakish talent, it looked like an FCS team.

Another note, I was shocked and disappointed in the field conditions for a nat champ game. Players should not be slipping around an ice rink, regardless of temps and snowfall during the week. It was a pathetic showing by Canton and NCAA. You would never ever see that in an FBS playoff game.

I wish that was the problem!  I just have terrible hands. ;D

Next time, I highly recommend turning the sound down and syncing it up with our audio broadcast!

Final Top 25 is out - BU at 4th, St. John's at 11th

Bethel's record of 12 - 1, is statistically the second best behind numbers one and two at 14 - 1.

Wheaton was the big mover, rising up 12 places after their performance in the finals...

A buddy messaged me after the game saying UWRF had no chance in the game like SJU had no chance in 2003 and said it was as stunning of a win as SJU against Mount Union.
I disagreed with him as I thought the UWRF had a much better chance this year than most people gave the Johnnies in 2003. Both were upsets but I thought the Johnnie win was more stunning inasmuch as Mount Union was favored...maybe I'm biased. The tight end for UWRF is a beast and will be back next year I believe. The MIAC is going to have a difficult time recruiting against UWRF. Their proximity to the Twin Cities and their price point (1/5 the cost of SJU...yes I know SJU give a decent amount of aid) will make it an appealing choice to a lot of kids.
The field conditions in the D3 game were crap and if the NCAA cared they would be embarassed...compare it to the FCS game last night...great setting and the field was in great shape.

I hesitate to share this because it's out and out bragging, but I finished 5th out of 383 entrants in the D3 Bracket Challenge on the strength of picking UWRF to win the championship. I believe that Art was among the leaders for a several rounds but made the mistake of picking Bethel to go all the way. (I was done in by the Christopher Newport quadrant.)

I don't post here much because my football experience is limited to playing one year in 8th grade, and my MIAC connections are getting a Master's from Hamline and paying the tuition for our daughter to attend St. Ben's. However, I think I was influenced by the wisdom and insights I gleaned from this board when making my bracket picks, so thanks folks.

Nobody was more surprised than me about how well I was doing - but I stayed quiet about it because I had picked the Royals to go all the way - and I kind of knew they didn't have quite enough horses to go all the way - but I stuck with them through thick and thin.
