Scrubby-were you at the SJU v. Bethel game, I thought you were-if so you know SJU played poorly. I will stick with that when the SJU players themselves say they played poorly, were not focused and lacked concentration-I believe what they actually said. Again, BU took advantage of the SJU play and played a good game-did that make them a great team-no-but neither is SJU.

I'm sure we are gonna get a lot of big 10 bias on this board, but i want to put it out there and start the debate:

OSU beats UM by 3 in close game..........does UM get a shot at national title? I say no, based on the fact that if USC (who I HATE) could finish by #17 Cal, #6 Notre Dame, and a tough UCLA squad. In addition to that, USC destroyed #5 Arkansas in the season opener, and beat #19 Nebraska. Now, I hate USC, i want to make that clear. But I think if they win out they have a valid case that they should be in the national title game, wheras Michigan has played only 2 ranked teams (albeit they are ND and OSU).  ALL RANKINGS BASED ON COACHES POLL. THE MEDIA SUCKS.

What Im really hoping for is that Florida wins out, USC beats ND but loses to UCLA, that way we can have Florida vs. OSU

...TDT is in a class of his own!

Are we going to let this fly? Granted, TDT is a prick who deserves to be mocked at all times, but can we at least get a verification that Gramps knows what TDT stands for before we allow him to join the pigpile? Is it Tommy DownTouch? Touch DinkiesToo? Cmon, you've only been here for two years. Have you figure it out yet?  ::)

Other than Wonka, everyone else has been awesome out here.  Showing respect and for some, truely understanding the game of football.  I suggested a week ago or so that BU had a tough road, they did.  They did however show they are for real.  I'm not sure anyone has given BU the credit they should in terms of beating SJU.  Posters just keep saying how "bad" SJU played.  Not sure why I'm going down that road anyway, sorry.
[/quote]

Just so we're clear, I cheered FOR Bethel to beat SJU. I even told everyone at the Stiftungfest that, and wasn't afraid to show my face to do so. Was BU the better team that day? Clearly. Do I think they'd win again if they played today? I'd still cheer for SJU to lose, but I wouldn't bet on it. BU still has lots to prove, especially on the national level. TDT reverts to it as his de facto rip, but the point remains: you have to win tough games in the postseason, no matter the competition, before you can be considered "for real" in anything other than the conference race. SJU, for as much as I hate them, has proven it time and time again.

I heard some interesting facts today in church about the MIAC awards!  Not sure why they haven't been mentioned on here yet, so I'll wait for official word on that.   I'll say this, actually Wonka would suggest this, In my "bias" thoughts about the awards, I was right on.

Not quite sure what to make of this. For weeks this year, you began every post with "As an unbiased observer/poster..." or some variant, despite ONLY watching Bethel games and always slobbering on their cahones. Do you honestly expect to escape mockery for that? That's like saying Dickey V is an unbiased commentator at Cameron Indoor.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Royalach- since 1997 (the earliest year I have records for Bethel), BC/BU is 1-3 against WIAC teams; over that same time SJU is 10-5 against WIAC teams.  SJU doesn't necessarily get intimidated by WIAC squads.  Yes, you beat SJU in your super bowl, but the way to get true national respect is to beat good national teams when you aren't playing your rival.  Bethel deserved their chip-chair-chance, but didn't pull it out.  They deserve MIAC respect (as they earned it), but that's about it right now.

Incidentally, BC/BU is 0-2 against Central since 2004.   We (a one-loss conference champ) played an undefeated conference champ on the road, you (a one-loss conference champ) played a one-loss conference runner up on the road.  And I don't need to reflect on those teams that won those games.

I don't back up TDT much, but careful with how you're attacking SJU.  And to think BC/BU doesn't have its TDTs is pretty ignorant.

RT-- LOVE the new complex at RPI.  Excellent facilities, it appears.  Best wishes on putting that together, as I hope it will bring in great athletes upstate.  And with good athletes comes the females!

The venom spewing from RoyalAchilles can only be matched by the anguish he's feeling following another painful loss to the river birds from LAX, home of the world's largest six pack.  How one poster in the form of the snowbird TDT can elicit such a response is less TDT and more just plain old' anger. >:(

Thank you o'resident historian barrister for your timely review of past performance... you know it is an indicator of future results....

As for the Central/Johnnie match-up yesterday it may have been the most complete game the Johnnies have executed this season.  The battle for field position was dominated by St. John's with effective running, steely 3rd and 4th down resolve and protecting the pigskin like it was the last good lookin' coed in Pella.

Significant game day contributor - WR Brandon Royce-Diop

His contributions rotating regularly with the starting group paid clutch throughout the game.  Look for Diop's sky-rocketing confidence and concentration next Saturday in Spokane. Another potent missile in AK's arsenal is launched.

Mr. Smooth - Mike Lofboom

Number 32 moves like he's on a magic carpet and catches passes like he's fielding phone numbers brom BRD's fan club.

Helicopter Award - Craig Lubberts

Does this kid have no fear?  Better yet does he have no neck?  For those of you who witnessed "the kid's" 14 yard sprint to synthetic dirt you were treated to moves unseen before outside the walls of the La Playette.

What you witnessed yesterday, if you were there, was a superbly played game executed without flaw with a level of concentration that can only be surpassed by the prayer community in Collegeville.

For those of you yearning for fellowship during this season of thanks, consider carefully your opportunity to witness St. John's in action next Saturday at the Pine Bowl.  There is a level of comfort that comes with playing in Collegeville and a sense of urgency and clarity that pours over while on the road.  These boys are clear about what they need to do.

Wonka, you are a PTPer with that post. ...

As for the post about to LX being "too physical" for SJU, how many times have we heard that about potential SJU playoff opponents?  (Not that we'll find out this year ...)

I was at the SJU/BU game.  I'm not buying that SJU played poorly.  Sure, what the heck is everyone going to say when they get out played, "we gave them our best stuff and still couldn't beat them".  I saw the SJU/STU game as well and SJU tried the same things against St. Thomas and had success.  Are you telling me that the #3 team in the county at the time, has a week off, and they come not ready to play.  Say what you want, BU out played and out coached the #3 team in the country, not that I think they were #3!!  Actually, if SJU is a top 10 team in the country, then Div III football is down this year.

sju56321

As a matter of fact-yes, I have heard many times players come out and say we were beaten by a better team. I don't know if SJU is a top ten team either, but the Laz index has them at #10 after yesterday's game. I guess then the IIAC must rank pretty low in your eyes, if even SJU could beat their conference champ.
But the really nice thing is that we SJU posters can focus on next week's game and not live in the past.

Scrubby41

...you are correct and I'm rooting for SJU!  I think they have one of the best programs in the country, if not the best.  I have never been to a better place to watch small college football than SJU, awesome place, great tradition.  I just think BU, from what I read on here, doesn't get the respect in which they earned this year!  My opinion, not worth anything, but willing to share it.

Come on it's not like the IIAC is the fricken SEC or something.  They are a decent conference and I think their champ would have lost to either LAX or Bethel had they played.  Bethel got a tough draw as did SJU having to travel to play a team that I think both teams would have been able to handle at home and healthy.  Lets be honest Bethel doesn't beat SJU last week without Porta just as they couldn't beat LAX without him.

I am glad we don't have to worry about rankings to determine who the top teams are they play the games and St. John's while I agree they were probably overrated at #3 they get to try to proove a top five ranking by winning the region.  Good luck to the J's I hope they show to be a top 5 team when it is all said and done.

Hey TDT, here is reality...  the only reason you advance is due to the fact you drew the only team you could possibly beat.  BU gets hosed on the the road draw and you and everybody else knows it.  They played a team that will absolutely kick your teams ass, as your team is just not physical enough.  Talk about Carleton all you want, we physically kicked your teams sorry ass all the way up and down the football field, and we would have done it again given the chance. Reality is BU will be back next year to shut your hole again, and I didnt hear any BU excuses, they lost, they went home, and played one hell of a game against a Big and strong La Crosse team. Reality is, wether you win or lose next week, we are one week closer to not hearing from you for another year...  To all the other Johnnie posters, you guys are at least fair in your analysis of MIAC football, where your poster child has one take every week.  And while your trying to order your DVD of the perfect season TDT, just put your little red chair by the front door of your trailer, and make sure to address is to Blue Boy...  cause it ain't coming this year...

Yeah, if only SJU could have gotten lucky like LAX and played a school who has never won a playoff game instead of an undefeated conference champ ranked #9 in the Nation and #2 in the West.

*Central even has a few of those hard to come by playoff wins, like in 2000 when they beat St Norbert's at home, then Linfield on the road before losing at home to an SJU team who only made it that far because of an easy draw.
** They also beat UW-Lax on the road in 1999.

Well, SJU beat the #9 team in the country, so where does that put them now?

By default, SJU is a top 16 team this year if nothing else, by virtue of being one of the 16 remaining teams.

Besides, rankings don't mean much in D3 thanks to the beautiful thing that is the playoff system. The better teams (like the SJU's, UWW's, MUC(k)'s and Wesleys of the world) win and advance. The weaker teams (Bethel, St Norbert's, Hope's of teh world) bow out and take an early christmas break.
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

BU are the new, unchallenged, unrivaled, undisputed, inarguable, unquestionable king-gods of MIAC football.  From now until the Last Day.

Is that enough respect?  'Cause I really really mean it.
