Is Linfield the only team that qualified for the west playoffs?   8)

After Freebird ripped the Kickoff at the beginning of the season and some of my predictions, I thought maybe I had lost my groove when it comes to predictions.  Then I pulled up my first playoff preview and I think I held my own pretty well.

From the October 25 column:

Linfield:  Last word: Book your tickets to Salem, Wildcats fans.
UWW:  Last Word: Book your tickets to McMinnville, Warhawk fans. Unless you can get yourselves moved into another bracket.
St. John's:  Last word: Inexperienced quarterback spells second round loss.
Oxy:  Last word: First round defeat in 2005 after good run last year.

Only mistake:
Central:  Last word: Sleeper for first round upset.
And a couple Johnnie games in the pick'em :)

Yeah, bennie, that traffic through Dundee can be a real pain, especially after all those horrible, rude Linfield fans already have you so upset.

You could take the shortcut through Gaston.

Nah, I wan't upset by the Linfield fans...I have been to previous games, so I knew what to expect! ;)

If I go up this week, I will just take 99W south to Salem which, hopefully, won't be as bad. The problem last Saturday was that I wanted to go shopping in Tigard. That will teach me! ;D

First of all congrats to the cats for the refs handing them the game in the second half.  CC momentum breaker was when fullback K. Williamson puts a linfield backer on the ground, falls on him, and gets called for holding...resulting in a TD with 30 sec left in the first half. Score CC-21  LC-7.  Would have been a different outcome of the game.  THe refs were very inconsistent the whole game.  As in NOT GOOD for a playoff game.  Also, when LC was losing their players were cheap and yelled at each other which I found amusing at times.  Their fans were terrible, to where 50 year old guys are yelling at 20-22 years old kids for playing a game. WOW....classless.  Linfield=St. Olaf(for MIAC comparison.)  The first linfield I saw asked if I rode the bus to the game, which I did.  He proceeds to say "You might as well take a nap during the massacre."  He must have been talking about the refs, because they must have been from the NWC.

Brett Elliot is the real deal as is Casey Allen.  I was a bit surprised when LC started the game with 5 running plays...are you kidding?  LC acuses people of being 1-dimensional, they are only 1-D all they do is pass and do it well.  I enjoyed talking with secruity at half-time and he said that the stadium was just silent for most of the first half, then they came out smokin in the second half and won the game.

Other than that good luck to WW and LC next week.  If the same refs are in LC as they were last Sat.   WW there is no chance of winning.

Last point,  this is very true and  accurate.....50% of all cars parked around the stadium were from WA...hmmmmm.  The band wagon must run from Seattle to McMinville.

P.S.  GOOD YEAR COBBS AND JOHNNIES!

Cobbernation,

Bull.  The holding call on that play was on your left offensive tackle and was legit.   Linfield's DE (Brandon Tom) was blowing right past him and had a clear shot at Schumacher.  The cobber left OT just pulled Tom down to the ground.  If that OT didn't pull Tom down he was right there to make a play on Schumacher, but instead Tom gets tacked by your OT, Schumacher reverses field, buys time, and hits the WR downfield.  Schumacher would have never had a chance to make that play if Tom didn't get molested by that OT.

The refs were bad for both sides but that was the right call.

MR--Yeah it was terrible from Valley City to Fargo.  I drove 35 mph the whole way and arrived in Fargo right before they closed I-94.  It sucked and visibility was terrible about .1 mile.  Lots of people are losing power and haven't had it since Monday morning.

WC11....good words although we have had worse officiated games.

But really, enough about the officiating.  There weren't all that many penalties called.  I only heard one complaint game day, that was on the PI call on Boock.....but fans really are unable to call PI from the stands since they are too busy watching the ball instead of the contact.   Additionally, I'll invite any Linfield fan to come to my office sometime and take the high school rules exam I had to take this August....just 100 true-false questions to see how good of an official they are before they even hit the field.

And that holding call.......all the Cobb O-lineman did was to encircle Brandon Tom...it wasn't holding, it was a bearhug.

Umm...No, the refs were bad to us, not to you.  How would you see that you were to busy yelling at kids on the sideline.  Your DB's were terrible on holding our receivers in the 2nd half, plus I like how your players got cheap on defense when Linfield was losing.  Also I was just amazed when Elliot was running down the sideline and got lit up by a CC linebacker.  It's funny why the side judge didn't throw a flag on the play, but the ref who was picking his nose on the fifty yard line saw that he was out of bounds.  That was ridiculous.  That's all I got.
