Looks like SJU has a challenge in Monmouth. They lost only to Wartburg in a close one, then beat the crap out of everybody else.

What do you think SJU would do in that conference? Beat the snot out of every team.

Quote from: Mister36 on Yesterday at 05:26:32 PMAs expected, pain on the left side of the bracket with BU in the quadrant with NCC and then a likely semifinal matchup with UMU if they get there.

Honestly I think Bethel can take Mount Union well, which speaks both to Bethel's growth and UMU maybe being a little underwhelming compared to usual this year. I just hope they get the chance.
It would appear that Mount doesn't have a NFL wideout this time around like they did the first two times BU played them (Garcon and Shorts), so that's a plus I suppose.

Having seen video of both, I can't be bothered to give Mount a thought unless BU find a way against NCC. I know what the NPI says, but on the eye test NCC is the class of the field.

NCC as a 4 seed is ridiculous and an example of a fix the NPI quants need to figure out. They are decidedly the team to beat in this field. Talking about a game vs UMU when NCC comes first is not what informed Bethel fans are doing....

Great chance for the MIAC to show how we stack up. There are some really fun matchups in this bracket.

@Usee, no one is looking past NCC. The quad has been called "pain." Another acknowledges NCC looks like the clear team to beat. A one poster says Mount looks like a decent matchup, if we can even manage to get there. You're working really hard to find disrespect for NCC on this board. Go back and read how people interpreted the JHU fallout and then jumping UWRF. No one wants to be in NCC's quad or having to go through Mount in the Semi's (if we get there). But we can still acknowledge how we think we'd pair with teams at each stage.

Yes NPI is broken and NCC is a joke as the lowest 1 seed. But so is Bethel as a 2 seed. It's a disservice to both to have them as the 4th and 5th overall seeds and matching up this early.

BU and SJU each did better than UMD and Mankato in the d2 draw. Ferris State is in their quad.

Quote from: DuffMan on Yesterday at 05:12:23 PMGood draw for the Johnnies!  Wonder if the Roush will be making an appearance.

I don't love UWRF after that, but...
13 days to find a Roush Mustang... I know a guy who knows a guy. 8-)
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

I am not a statistician, nor do I play one on TV...

Just sharing some casual comments about "how tough each of the brackets are". Using NPI numbers only there are at least two ways of defining how each bracket fares in comparison to the other three. You can take the seeding numbers in each bracket and add them up. The highest total is the "easiest bracket". Going one step further, use the actual ranking found in NPI and then add those up, and then "determine" the softest region. I'll now share those sums with you all. The first number is the seeding, the second number is the ranking.

Drum roll please.

Mount Union Bracket: 189/234

North Central Bracket: 207

Wartburg Bracket: 218/270

Christopher Newport Bracket: 206/212

So either Mount Union has the toughest or a middling bracket, depending on which figure you want to glom on to, while the North Central bracket is the "truest" bracket because all of the teams in their bracket are not seeded or ranked below #35. And using both metrics, the Wartburg bracket is the softest/easiest.

My "eye test" when looking at the pairings of those teams in the first round - the only team there that I think has a decent chance in the second round would be Wheaton against Wartburg. We all know there is some history between these two. The next best chance in my mind would be the Mules kicking the Purple Raiders out of the tourney, but we will see what will be.

Hazz-2 things: 1-I didn't have to work hard at all, the comments were in two previous posts. 2-If you think I care about disrespect towards NCC, you have forgotten whom I root for. I welcome disrespect towards NCC, I search for it, I embrace it. I was simply pointing out what I read.

USee - My bad, I just went through the last 20 years and I misremembered - it was UW Whitewater, not Wheaton. As far as I went back, they have never met.

You know it's the postseason when USee shows up on the MIAC board.

Not what I was doing, I was simply hoping that all the rest of us would be blessed by a game where NCC gets a game winning touchdown in the last second just for it to be called back by a holding penalty.
