Then there are the Geoducks of Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA with their mascot, "Speedy the Geoduck".    "Speedy is the symbol of the essence of Evergreen: accessible to all who are willing to dig deep."  Their fight song:  "Go, Geoducks go, through the mud and the sand, let's go. Siphon high, squirt it out, swivel all about, let it all hang out." Go, Geoducks go, stretch your necks when the tide is low, siphon high, Squirt it out, swivel all about, let it all hang out." (words and music by Malcolm Stilson, 1971)

The MWC board hasn't had a post since Sept. 10.  I miss the golden days of Post Patterns where you could smack talk a Roush aficionado all week and then shotgun a few beers with him outside a Pace Arrow in Science Lot 2, all before Kevin McNamara set the NCAA record for most sacks in a game (7.5).

Duff Could fund the trip by selling the second place trophies.
I see D3 has SJU as a disappointment-not out of the ordinary. But I guess who knows if the MIAC was any good this year. Finally, the MWC is still the MWC.

Despite the MWC being what it is, Monmouth demolished everyone except Wartburg, and the Johnnies are 0-1 against respectable teams.  I expect a slug fest, and the Johnnies will lose if they don't come out firing on all cylinders.

Watched some of the clips vs. Wartburg and they do appear better and more physical than the typical MWC champ. Just how much is the question.

I don't know if it was the case in '05 but there's a heavy Florida presence on the roster. The HC now was the DC in 2005.

It will never happen given the apparent anti-football bias of many of the admins in the MIAC, but would allowing bowl participation help the "little 8" work toward raising their game and give their programs a boost?

I thought I recall reading that the MIAC voted to do away with the moratorium on post-season bowl games.  I can't currently find anything to support that, but I don't know why I'd make it up. 😂

Yes. This is true.

Thanks for the update, Duff and Pat. An ARC/MIAC border bowl seems like a natural fit. This year a Central-Concordia matchup would pair two programs with solid histories ... although it looks like the Dutch might be a cut above this season.

This is the most obvious option. Play the game at the UNI Dome or Vikes TCO. TCO would be a great venue with it's 6-7k seating so it wouldn't be dwarfed by the venue. Totally think it would be a chance for a team to continue taking the next steps. I'd guess most years with 40 teams the MIAC and ARC will be getting a second team in. So likely pitting 3 v 3. It would add drama to the final regular season games. Every Sr on a team with a chance at that game is gonna fight for one more chance to suit up.

In a similar vein. Someone on the ARC board threw out the UNI Dome as a Stagg venue. Love that idea, domed stadium for Jan game with the right capacity. TCO would also be a fun option too. It stinks when the stadium is at 15% capacity, kills the vibe of championship game and doesn't make D3 fan support look great on TV.

Both of those options would also be in the heart of "D3 country" unlike locations in TX.

What's up MIAC board...

I'm a long-time D3Boards reader and a somewhat experienced poster on the NESCAC board, having played football at Middlebury College in Vermont. I moved to Minnesota in the summer and recently accepted a (non-football) job at Carleton. I am planning to adopt the Knights as a second D3 team, and I am looking for some info from you all.

First, does anyone have realistic hopes to win the conference in the future other than St. John's and Bethel? Second, I understand that this was a solid season for Carleton, and I am aware of Jack Curtis's incredible story. What else should I know about rooting for the Knights? And is there anything else I should know about the conference as a whole?

Thank you, and I look forward to joining the discussion.

Look at you taking a turn to negative town...I thought that was my job!
I do agree with you BTW.

I think Monmouth made Logan's recent top 10 for offensive and defensive efficiency, which included opp adjustments. They look legit. I could see either Bethel and SJU making a deep run, and also getting bounced their first game. Neither is facing a Crown.

UWP in the second round scares me, particularly given our light schedule outside of the SJU game.  Glad we'll probably see a pretty good Coe team before that.

Only if St. John's and Bethel follow St. Thomas and go D1.
