RF committed coaching malpractice on their second to last offensive drive, not understanding the loss of down on the penalty, but the defense stepped up and bailed them out!

Incredibly entertaining game from both squads!

Johns Knees

Is that really a loss of down penalty?

Illegal substitution was the call?

All I could find was there is a five yard variant and a fifteen yard variant (if egregious like sneaking someone on the field), but neither mentioned loss of down.

Watched it again - looks like they called illegal touching not formation. They're saying the second receiver was lined up on the line, which made him ineligible. And he caught the pass.

Sure looked like he was off the line by a yard to me. It was close, though.

Just watched both semi-finals highlights on YouTube - Hopkins is definitely #3 at the end of the year. I think BU is in the running for #4 - we'll have to wait to see what the voters think.

That's how I would pick it.  JHU was very good.  Couple of breaks and they would have won.  More interested / intrigued by the championship matchup than I have been in a few years!

If I counted correctly, there are 8 MIAC players named to the D3 All-American squads - St. John's 4, Bethel 3, Concordia Moorhead 1.

You counted correctly.  You've got two first teamers, so if we were assigning points, you win again.  Tied with several other schools with two.

Assuming a competitive Stagg Bowl, I think this is accurate. I anticipate a really good one. There's also a part of me that's wondered if UWRF's D was as championship caliber as their O or JHU was just better than we thought. The Stagg will answer a lot of this, if we're lucky the ending has as much drama as this semifinal did.

If they weren't already aware, all MIAC schools are now on notice UWRF recruiting of the entire state of Minnesota is in overdrive... the pipeline is open.
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Think several weeks ago one of the Bethel guys compared River Falls to the 03 Johnnies with a dominant player leading a team of destiny type thing and wow was that accurate. Complete with the D shutting out an unstoppable offense from the defending champs in the second half! Fun game and Blaha is incredible. Or maybe he was more like Cam Newton just doing absolutely everything to lead his team to an unexpected title. Congrats to the Falcons.

Yeah that was my take, feels dead on today. Blaha was just brilliant down the stretch. UWRF had a lot of great players, but Blaha made them all better on offense and just seemed to give the team absolute belief in their ability to win.

They've been putting together monster classes for the last few years. They will be really good. Blaha will leave a hole, but their proximity to the metro, price tag, and grey shirting are going to be a really lethal combo to overcome.

With Janus at UWL leaving for D2 N. Mich, I wonder if the UWRF OC has HC ambitions. Walker keeping his staff intact will be his biggest recruiting need.

That was a fun game!  I got home early in Q2; going into half, I thought NCC would start pulling away in the the 2nd half.  RF turned it up to 11!  The tip and pick by 96 was fantastic--I'm pretty sure I woke my kids up with my reaction to that play.
