Anyone think that 23 months is enough time for Vick in the slammer?

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

More than enough.  You have guys out there that have beaten up their 5th girlfriend that havent seen an hour of jail.  He won't do all that time either I bet.

Nope. But 23 months of being someone's "bitch" + loss of endorsments  + NFL Contract + nice home + nice cars + ladies + "posse" may make some of these other gangstas think twice before they pull some boneheaded moves in the future :-\

He should try working in the real world. I don't think he could do it and make his checkbook balance at the end of the month. Take some responsibility Michael  :o

An article on the Vick sentence http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news?slug=dw-vicksentencing121007&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
An excellent read. I caught some of the Jack Rice show on CCO this noon. He had the phone lines open on the sentencing. Most of the callers I heard felt it was far too harsh; one guy even said vick should just be fined 30-40k and be done with it. This article makes it clear WHY vick got the book thrown at him and shows that he more than deserved it.

Another day, another airport lounge, another delayed flight.  If I have one bit of advice for any Johnnie (or any approaching grad for that matter) considering careers at the moment: have a good think about what you want from life.  Not that I'm complaining, but I fly a friggin' lot (and I am complaining a bit).  I thought, like many young dummies, that I would only do it for a few years and then move on.  15 years later, here I sit...

You find yourself in a position of being skilled at addressing difficult problems on short notice and you get locked in.  You get brought in on last minute consultations where there is "no one else that can do this".  On the planet apparently.

So, what brings on this little pity party?  Tonight I sit in the Sydney Qantas lounge, waiting on a flight delayed for mechanical problems while my girls now miss Carols by Candlelight at the local Dendy Park.  Australia still has public (gov't facilitated even) celebrations of Christmas.  This particular Carols is organized by the local council and a few thousand local residents get together and the kids run around celebrating Christmas (and the start of summer vacation in a week).

So, I'm killing time, bummed out and in the mood to give advice as I soak my liver with free booze (Qantas lounges have complementary drinks - frequent travelers appreciate that service).  The real bummer?  I'd probably make the same choices even though I regret them tonight.  Can't change my spots, I guess.

And the friggin' 3am karma troll can give it a rest.

If you have nothing better to do than set your alarm to wake in the middle of the night and tag me for a couple points (yes, I must have made two, maybe three, fiercely dedicated enemies in this recent post season), then you don't make me feel so bad any more.  At least I'm wasting my time to put food on the table.

2.  Plenty of coeds around that have a..."zest for living," if you know what I mean.

+k to you Oz.  I was in a position for over 20 years where road warriers like yourself came to visit me weekly and I always had the utmost respect for the sacrifices they make.  (Well, some of them I thought were outright crazy, but I don't put you in that group).

That was in the good old days, where a long delay meant a hour or two.  They could at least count on getting an aisle seat or a row all to their own half the time and a actual semi-edible meal and a plane they could stand upright in.

I was lucky that I only had to fly about once a month and never more than three hour trips.  My few horror stories back then seem like utopia compared to what I hear is going on out there now.  My last flight (from Grand Junction Co to Mpls) was 18 months ago.  Haven't flown for business purposes since '03.

So hang in there.  Don't know if its going to get better but at least it keeps getting older and one of these days you'll be in a position to make a career change or a job change and get back to a life-style with some balance.

Don't feel sorry for Oz. Everything around my area is shut down due to an ice storm. The bar that's walking distance from my house is closed on Tuesdays. Now that's a problem!

Jimmy G could go coach at UST...

I knew that would show up sooner or later...was suprised it was from a guy I consider to be a pretty good poster...Jimmy always gets the shaft when it comes to these things...I think all those guys do good work, Jimmy, Jerry and Gary, Dean and Jim M...

VOJ, I'm going to borrow a response of Redtooth's for this...

No worries from the SJU faithful.....we know when a good guy like you is joking.

Like LAB's, my suggestion wasn't serious.

K sorry to misunderstand the tongue in cheek humor...but over the years I have heard my fair share of bitching about Jimmy, the play calling by Jimmy and the sometimes inept play of the offense, from fans...I guess I have a distorted view of things being so close to the program, which is why I got a little defensive...
