Great to see the recognition of Dave Wrath for all he has contributed to Augie athletics and to campus life in general. His loyalty to Augie is unquestioned, but his efforts have always extended to supporting the CCIW as well. Congratulations to Dave.

I am determined to be wise, but this was beyond me.

Nice new look to the Carthage athletics website.....not all the links seem to be active yet but very impressive/fresh look.

Old news (but I just ran across it) and not basketball (but I consider 'the Chat' kind of the 'board of record' for the CCIW!): on October 3rd, IWU won their 8th consecutive title in women's golf.  Congratulations, ladies! :)

The perils of dominance, however: coach Kathy Niepagen was named COY each of the first 5 years of the streak, but has not won since.  Well, they can't give it to the Kenyon swimming coach EVERY year, or Larry Kehres, or John Wooden! ;)  [Couldn't find 'COY' listings for men's cross country, so didn't list the NCC coach! :P]

You're posting in here about women's golf, Chuck? Women's golf? Seriously? Are you just trying to open the floodgates for posts about North Park's women's rowing team, or Elmhurst's women's bowling team, or Wheaton's women's water polo team, too?

Don't forget the Augie equestrian team!

They only added an equestrian team for the sake of the Augustana Veterinary School. Heaven forbid that the Augustana Medical School should get all of the perquisites. ;)

I thought that was Augie's underwater basket weaving team. - lol

I know you're just pulling my chain, but it IS a recognized CCIW sport (whose players probably take it just as seriously as male basketball players).  If someone wants to post about NCC's men's cross-country team, feel free (though they have a board, women's golf doesn't ;)).  Anyone wishing to offer congratulations to other conference-recognized sports winners has my blessing - just wait 'til the streak reaches 8 straight! ;D

iwu70

I'm with Ypsi.  Plus, 8 straight is pretty impressive in any sport.

Ypsi, IWU campus is so beautiful just now . . . I'm here from Hong Kong for 3-4 weeks.  My 91 year-old parents got the Alumni Loyalty Award at Homecoming so I had to be here!  We made a family reunion out of it.  Don't forget, my friend, our 40th reunion next year, October 8-10.  You must be here.

I'm ready for some bball for sure.  So I'm staying through the Wash U game before heading back to Asia.  Still some good football to go, but I'm ready for the basketball season to begin.

Mr. Ypsi

Mark, great to see an appearance again from you!

FORTIETH!  My God, we're getting old! :o  My parents will turn 91 and 92 within the next three weeks; what a blessing that we both still have them, and in (mostly) good condition! :)

Before you bypass football for basketball, note that the Titans play both NCC and Wheaton in Bloomington - they just might still win the title!  (Curses to Millikin: we crushed them in every category except the scoreboard! >:()

You would think that someone with a one "track" mind would consider cross country a sport....
