Thank you all for the well wishes... everyone is returning to normal at home.

I checked out the boards for the first time in awhile today to see what you all thought about the CCIW streaming channel and saw the post about the roster. It's now live online:

I like the fact that the service is free.  I downloaded the HUDL app on my roku, but I don't see CCIW games available for streaming - at least yet.

Will this be an option?

The CCIW will likely have their own Roku app (most hudl conferences do) - often I have to search for games on the hudl app itself. The user interface there is pretty terrible.

The MIAA did this last year with hudl, and do indeed have their own Roku app which I love.  One stop shoping for live streams and archives of previous contests. Super easy to filter by school or sport.

Quote from: lmitzel on July 23, 2025, 04:56:11 PMI haven't looked at other schedules around the league yet, but I've noticed an oddity this year with the double round robin. Usually you face everyone once before you start the rematches. Yet for NCC, they face North Park in back to back CCIW contests (in Chicago on 12/13 and Naperville on 1/3). They don't face Elmhurst until 1/24 and then again on 2/14.

The double booking in the first round-robin between NPU and NCC was done by the league office, and I think that it's by request of NCC. Something to do with their finals schedule, I think; the NPU coaching staff isn't 100% sure of the exact reason. All they know is that this unusual arrangement didn't come out of Foster & Kedzie.

Expect a big announcement to come out of Brainard Street within the next few days.

That's all that I'll say about it.

That tracks. I'm not as up to date on the academic calendar since NCC went back to semesters a few years back, but that week leading up to the game at Foster and Kedzie is Finals Week. And yet the tradeoff was moving the first Elmhurst matchup, which if travel was the issue that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I may have to see what I can dig up.

No, CUW's move to the CCIW is the big announcement from the league office to which I referred Thursday morning. Mo's retirement announcement actually took me a little by surprise. I was aware that her retirement was imminent, but I didn't think that it would be announced for a few more weeks. The timing seems a little odd, what with the league office getting set to red-carpet the Falcons into the CCIW fold, but Mo's certainly entitled to announce her retirement on her own timetable.

As someone who holds the CCIW in very high esteem, I wonder a bit how the CUW move fits.  I am sure that there has been ink spilled elsewhere that explains it, but my quick google searching didn't find it.  I guess location is good.  Campus has great lake views, but :

- middling sports programs in the NACC
- net assets are almost 90m less than the next closest CCIW school
- fairly small endowment

Just surprised.  Were any other schools considered?

About 10 years ago I floated something about "maybe CUW or Aurora will join the CCIW" which was roundly greeted with ambivalence at best. It was pointed out to me that part of the being in the CCIW is a level of financial "security" which these schools have attained. I stood corrected. Now the news that CUW will be joining the conference has me shaking my head for the very reasons you list above. Yes, they sponsor a lot of sports and have a nice campus, but do they really meet the high level of the CCIW? Maybe they do - they're awfully close to the vest on big decisions but I'm not sure. I'm sure that they think they do.

GU1999 - you mentioned "middling sports programs in the NACC". This is somewhat true. Their teams are generally finish in the top four or five in the standings in all sports in the NACC (top two or three in football) and might win a championship or two every year but they are really not dominant in any; I guess that is the definition of middling. I guess that they'd rather be a also-ran in the CCIW than a big fish in the small pond of the NACC. (I am sure that there are tangible benefits of being in a much more prestigious conference but someone is going to have to fill me in on them.)
