Mr. Ypsi

sac,

I just noticed - where did your last three stars go?!  I now out-star you! ;D

Pat Coleman

People staying logged in indefinitely does not appear to be a particular strain on the site, as far as I can tell.

No matter how often I tried to set the HOFers as HOF, it kept reverting to whatever class their post total says they should be in. Since that seemed to cause some members of the board (ahem, Mr. Ypsi) undue consternation, I appended the HOF title in a different way.

Funny, my dad has a friend who's known as Mr. Ypsi, it relates to Golf.

Cabs, from now on your Mr. Ypsi  ;D

Mr. Ypsi

sac,

Your timing is impeccable - the Ypsilanti Heritage Festival began just hours ago!  I accept the moniker with pride!  I may even make it official!  :-\

I hadn't heard the golf term - is that as in 'the yips' while putting?  (If so, that is one of the few faults my golf game DOESN'T have!)

When two HOFers tell me I am now Mr. Ypsi, who am I to argue!  (For those who are confused, I used to be cabonney.)

Pat, since the new set-up doesn't present the username, I'm afraid my moniker change may confuse other posters (of course, with my current Karma, that may be an advantage)!

I suspect that AT LEAST one of the HOFers (aka, the Boss) did not dub me as a compliment, but since the Ypsilanti Heritage Festival is now in full swing, I take the new name with pride! ;D

BTW, sac, I assume you ARE on your way to Costa Rica?! ;)

Mr. Ypsi

BTW, Pat, I have realized a downside to the new set-up: truly embarrassing gaffes are now semi-permanent!  Used to be, if you made a really dumb post (on boards like CCIW Chat) it would scroll off in days, if not hours!  (Though, I assume, that could be taken as a plus - incentive not to MAKE truly dumb posts!)

But, despite its humiliating possibilities, I LIKE the possibility of checking really old posts!  (And, I imagine, most posters will NOT be checking the 'old' stuff!)

How many pages are you set up to carry before they, too, scroll?  I recall some talk of 25 - in the CCIW, in-season, that might not last us a week unless we set up 'child' boards!

Pat Coleman

I don't know -- we'll see how many. I would suggest 25 is at least a minimum. We'll see how the site performs with that many posts on it.

Mr. Ypsi

Thanks, Pat,

Since diehardfan has given up her archiving duties (which applied only to CCIW Chat anyway, which she is now shunning [April, SOME of us love you - please come back!]), it's good to know that posts will survive beyond a Wednesday or Saturday night during the season (and presumably for AT LEAST a week or two beyond).  No matter how hectic other things were, I was afraid to miss a W nite or S pm, lest I miss all the key details!

And I'll TRY to skip the truly dumb posts!

Knightstalker

Don't feel bad about your Karma Mr. Ypsibonney, I have the same Karma ranking as you, somebody doesn't like us.

empire

does anybody know what this season's rosters are looking like for the CCIW....and is it me or are there a few people that may return to their teams from last year like Martin, Wilson, Bowens....what?

Mr. Ypsi

Empire,

Since fall term hasn't started yet, I suspect your inquiry is a bit pre-mature (beyond the rumors, hearsay, and (occasionally) well-founded info that has floated all off-season)!

In a couple of weeks, people could begin to report on who has actually arrived on campus, but who will still play may not be known for months!

Titan Q

The Titans have won both of their games in Costa Rica so far...

8/20: IWU 93 San Carlos 45

8/21: IWU 89 Costa Rica National Team 69

It is hard to find anything on these teams to gauge the caliber of basketball they play, but the Costa Rica National Team defeated Eastern Illinois by 18 points last year and only lost to Seton Hall by 8 points.

I'm guessing that 20 point win over the National Team was a very good performance.  The Titans will face them again Friday evening on their homecourt in a game celebrating 100 years of basketball in Costa Rica.

Remaining schedule:

8/23 vs Barbados National Team (in San Jose)
8/25 vs Brujas (in San Jose)
8/26 vs Costa Rica National Team (in San Jose)

Mr. Ypsi

Q,

Do you have any info on whether the Costa Rican national team the Titans are playing is really the same team as last year (full-strength? little or no turnover?) - if so, that sounds pretty impressive to me!

BTW, any sac sightings?  He was supposed to go scout the IWU-Barbados National Team game!  ;)

Titan Q

Leading scorers in those two Titan wins were...

vs San Carlos:

Amelianovich 18, Dauksas 13, Cory Jones 12

vs C.R. National Team:

Amelianovich 26*, Dauksas 18, Z. Freeman 13

* 8 3-pointers made

The word I got back from Costa Rica was that the San Carlos team was not very good (not a CCIW-caliber team), but that the National Team was outstanding - comparable to good NCAA D2 team.  It sounded like the Titans played extremely well in that one.
