Greek Tragedy

Quote from: iwu70 on March 02, 2026, 10:00:10 PMSeems IWU got a pretty good draw -- two games to start at home.

We'll see if Cleveland is back and can play.

My guess is they probably would've hosted had they lost. They were 11th going into the game and I'm not sure they would've dropped 5 or 6 spots. I think they have a really good draw. I would be surprised if they don't get out of the weekend. Part of it depends on Cleveland"s availability.

The word around Shirk is that Cleveland is being further evaluated today or tomorrow, and may be able to play this weekend.  That would be a great help, to say the least.  Stay tuned.

I just want to know what Ron Rose said to the team at halftime last Saturday??  He may want to bottle that and have it all ready for the post-season.  :)

I'd be just as happy to see Noah sit this one out and focus on recovery over the summer. There's always next year,  says my inner Cub fan.

IWU certainly doesn't even remotely need Cleveland to pound 16-12 (7-9 in conference) Heidelberg in their first game. Additionally, his presence really shouldn't be necessary to rather easily handle either NPI #32 John Carroll or NPI #41 Grinnell in the second round game.

And that's why they play the games, my friend. I'm sure you thought you'd pound Stout when they came to Shirk. Heidelberg is riding high for obvious reasons. They beat Mount Union and Otterbein 7 and 6 games ahead of them in the standings to get the AQ. Hardly a fluke, I guessing. And any team with Luke Chicone is dangerous. He's more than capable of carrying JCU to an unlikely victory.

Yes, Greek, I agree -- all teams are dangerous and motivated this time of year.  IWU will need to put up a good effort and enjoy the home floor.  I have them getting to the second weekend, but one never knows . . .

I'm hoping Cleveland is cleared to play.

P.S.  Tougher for the IWU women, in a pod with Hope.   Hope stands in their way to get to the Sweet Sixteen.  The women have had a lot of heartbreak on the DeVos floor over the years.  A new year, new teams, so let's hope for two IWU Ws.   ms

I don't know GusD, but I never got the impression he was a Titan fan. Maybe I'm wrong.

No Green, you're definitely not wrong. My IWU fandom begins and ends with acknowledging IWU is a very good school with a historically very good 🏀 team.
I do think they will win Friday even without Cleveland in the lineup. And while it would be nice to have Mr. Cleveland on Saturday, I don't feel that his presence will be required in order to emerge with a victory.
