No, he didn't take a leave of absence from NWOSU last April. He resigned ... and the NWOSU athletics article on the Rangers website specifically stated why.

Did Carthage schedule a four-team tournament and someone drop out? Thiel and Platteville play at Carthage on Friday, November 6 and then Thiel plays Carthage the next day.

Meanwhile, Platteville then plays Buena Vista on Sunday at home.

Looks like the latest trend in CCIW men's basketball is to hire North Park hoops alumni named T.J. as assistant coaches. T.J. Gardner has just been named by Carthage as the new GA of the Firebirds.

As we look to the season in a few weeks now, here are a few thoughts about IWU.  I'm very optimistic about the new season -- yes, big losses in Cleveland (to ISU), Colak, Boldt and Anderson, but plenty plenty returning to be very optimistic about the new Titan edition.  And, we don't know much about what the newbies might bring.

Returning:

Two of the better PGs in all of D3 returning in Josh Fridman and Jaxon Niego

Wings:  Likely pre-season All-American in senior Mason Funk
Returning starters and 3-point artist, Lawrence
Other major past contributors in Ruggles and Connor Williams
Others likely in the mix in Anthony Kemp and Alex Miller

Post:  Brady Kuehl, Alex Schmidts, Meyer and newbie, Owen Sanders

I don't know much about the other newbies -- perhaps a few in the mix for the rotation

Seems to me it might be Fridman/Niego, Funk, Lawrence, Kuehl and a new big, Owen Sanders?

This is a reload not a rebuild, IMHO.

Time will tell.

Looking forward to another possible CCIW championship season.

Wesleyan will be fine.  There was a lot of angst in the Titan world when Cleveland entered the portal. But I don't see anyone else claiming the CCIW title.  I expect them to win the regular season and tournament titles and winning a couple of NCAA games at least.

And I am looking at it as an outsider.
